Short Bio

Stefano Carnelli (1977) is a photographer, researcher and curator with a background in architecture and urban planning. His practice investigates how fragmented, informal and marginalised communities contribute in shaping the contemporary urban spaces. He believes that cities end up shaping themselves, in a continuous transformation and re-confirmation process that deeply affects concepts like identity, belongingness and sense of community. Stefano founded in 2012 with Pablo Conejo and Mattias Malk the Urban research collective Urbiquity and is a director of the Urban Photographers Associatio. His long-term project “Transumanza” became a book published by Peperoni books in 2017.
