T The New York City Department of Education (DOE) is looking for a few good parents to serve on Community Education Councils (CECs) and Citywide Education Councils, which offer the opportunity to help shape the policies and priorities of the city’s public schools. Parents who serve as council members will assess district needs, work directly with Regional Superintendents and provide feedback to DOE Chancellor Carmen Fariña. Topics such as school zone boundaries, budgets and school policies are discussed at monthly meetings.
