he January weekend ‘Ni TFestivalu’ celebrated its tenth anniversary in low-key fashion, i.e. by not celebrating it at all. No matter: the world of Esperanto is as full of anniversaries as a fruit cake is of raisins ... and, while the object of the fruit cake is to eat it and not count raisins, so the object of the weekend is not to count backwards but to look forwards. Thus it was in Barlas- ton on a wet and windy weekend when a dozen or more hardy ‘festivalers’ rehearsed the one-act play to be presented at the British Esperanto Congress in Felixstowe. The play, Dialogaro unuvoça, deals with the beginnings of Esperanto in Britain and chimes with this year’s centenary of the establishment of BEA-EAB (see what I mean about anniversa- ries?).
