This seal, approved on June 26, 1856, consisted of an open book surrounded by rays of light and circled by the words North western University, Evanston, Illinois. Thirty years later Daniel Bonbright, professor of Latin and a member of Northwestern’s original faculty, redesigned the seal, Whatsoever things are true, retaining the book and light rays and adding two quotations. whatsoever things are honest, On the pages of the open book he placed a Greek quotation from the Gospel of John, chapter 1, verse 14, translating to The Word . whatsoever things are just, full of grace and truth. [email protected] Abstract Guo Moruo is a distinguished cultural great man in China's modern history, Institutions, government organs, research institutes, and other units mold statues for paying respects to him throughout the country, however, the artistic quality of statues of Guo Moruo varies around the country, some statues are imbalanced, stiff and inaccurate structures, shape and spirit do not like Mr. Guo, which seriously affected Guo Moruo's image in people's hearts. Building the third-party professional team, stipulating related systems, rationally planning the statue of Guo Moruo, supervising the statue sponsors with strict system, and requiring the statue makers with high standards of artistic quality are important channels to protect the image of Mr. Guo. Selbst unsere Kolumnen widmen sich diesmal den kleinen Konflikten oder Großen Kriegen und beleuchten diese aus antiker wie aus gegenwärtiger, kunstvoller, ernster oder humorvoller (An)Sicht. Nicht minder gewichtig, wenn auch in ganz anderer (Hin)Sicht, ist wieder unser Literaturteil geraten – beschäftigen wir uns doch gleich mit drei Siegerinnen des Bachmannpreises: Maja Haderlap, Olga Martynova und Sibylle Lewitscharoff.
