ARCHITECTURAL DELIGHTS OF LJUBLJANA

Join us for a guided walk through the city of Ljubljana, architectural gem of Central on Wednesday, 16 November.

Our walk will start at 13.30 at the National Gallery, where we will visit the Collection of Slovene and discover how the Slovenian artists marked the world map with their achievements. A walk with the museum custodian will give us an insight to the cultural history of the country. The walk will continue along the Čopova street, famous promenade area for the locals. The street will bring us to Prešeren square, where we will make a short coffee break and afterwards the walk will continue from the Prešeren square at 15.15 where others can join us as well. We will walk across the Butcher's bridge, through the market square into the church of St. Nicholas, city's main cathedral. Walk will take us along the embankment of River, past the Three-bridges and across the Cobbler's Bridge, past the New into the National University Library (16.45), one of the most remarkable architectural creations done by the biggest name in Ljubljana's architecture, Jože Plečnik. Guided walk through the library to discover its secret symbolisms. The tour will finish up at the rebuilt , with the entry into the Seat of Ljubljana University at 17.45. Guided walk through the University will be followed by a lecture of Prof. Eberhard Neumann at 18.30. Final destination of this remarkable walk will be at the City Hall of Ljubljana at 20.00, where we will be welcomed by the mayor of the city of Ljubljana, Mr. Zoran Jankovič.
