Elizabeth Perez-Rodriguez- Maria Elena Zavala – Professor California State University – discovered genes involved in root tip ; service to next-generation.

Joseph Pough- Emmett Chappelle – developed test for detection of bacteria in food and urine.

Ashley Savage- Cherie Butts – research on the immune system and role of hormones in treatment of diseases.

Porchia Wallace- Benjamin Carson – pediatric neurosurgeon – John Hopkins University Hospital; operated to separate Siamese twins joined at the head.

Tatiana Carrasquilla - Joan Esnayra – program officer (science policy at the national level) at National Academy of Sciences; founded the Psychiatric Service Dog Society

Andrew DeSantis- Severo Ochoa de Albornoz – biochemist and physiologist studying enzymatic processes and recipient of the 1959 Nobel Prize in Physiology & Medicine with for “discovery of the mechanisms in the biological synthesis of RNA & DNA.”

Elizabeth Ernstberger- Jill Bargonetti-Chavarria – Professor Hunter College, cancer researchers trying to find ways to fix non-functioning p53 genes; discovered link between the P53 gene and AIDS virus; educator investigating different learning strategies for students.

Grant Fairchild- – co-recipient of 2009 Nobel Prize in Physiology & Medicine for discovery of how chromosomes are protected by telomeres and the enzyme telomerase”

Stephen Frank- Keith L. Black – Professor, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, pioneered research on ways to cross the blood-brain barrier allowing chemotherapeutic drugs to be delivered direly into a brain tumor.

Marquita Gray- Terri L. Young – Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics Duke University; founding director of Ophthalmic Genetics Pediatric Clinic; discovered a molecular genetic basis of high-grade myopia, the association with the insulin-like-growth-factor-1 gene
