Company Description Gallo Family Vineyards owns and operates 15 vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, Lake County, Monterey, and San Luis Obispo Counties. Job Description Currently, our Internship Program is searching for appropriate candidates to fill three to six month positions (July- September or June- December) within our Winegrowing Operations. Coastal Winegrowing/Gallo Vineyards Inc (GVI) strives to produce the highest quality wine grapes using technologically advanced production techniques. Interns will support the many different areas of our Winegrowing Operations including general viticulture, trellis design, irrigation management, pest control, tractor and spray operations, new equipment development and cultural operations. Minimum Qualifications  High school diploma or GED  Must be in Junior standing and obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Environmental Science, Soil Science Horticulture, Chemistry, Enology or Viticulture  Permanent, legal right to work in U.S. GVI does not sponsor or renew visas for internship positions  Ability to lift 40 lbs. Preferred Qualifications  General viticulture knowledge  Grape pest and disease identification  Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Excel , Statistical Analysis (MiniTab, SAS), GPS Mapping and ArcView  Basic Spanish General Expectations  Support all GVI operations  Design and construct an innovative trellis system  Use GPS technology and the Geographical Information System to implement precision farming and map vineyard infrastructure  Participate in pest and disease scouting and help draft treatment thresholds for specific pests  Assist with the design, layout, and planting of a new vineyard block  Assist with harvest activities including maturity sampling, harvest equipment preparation and quality control of mechanically and hand-harvested fruit What you can expect to learn….  Site preparation and vineyard development  Advanced irrigation and Integrated Pest Management strategies  Design and execution of field research projects  Safe use and operation of advanced equipment How to Apply Please apply to this job posting on your school’s career website AND at the link below to be considered:
