From 1731 until today, 10 generations have dedicated themselves to the production of the highest quality wines. The Amistar label embodies wines of extravagant fragrance and bouquet using old vines and harvesting late in the year. The De Silva wines likewise get their character from very old vines planted in very distinctive soils. The wines of I Vigneti are made from younger vines (considered old by normal standards) and embody the family’s philosophy of uncompromising care in both the vineyards and the cellar. Agr. Masut da Rive Mariano del Friuli Isonzo The Gallo family has been making wine in Isonzo for over 60 years. In the 1970’s, Silvano Gallo redirected the focus of the estate towards quality, instituting the use of stainless steel tanks for fermentation in the winery, temperature control to preserve fruit character, and minimal handling of the wines to express terroir. Experimentation with different spacing methods, trellising and clones has translated into wines with riper and more concentrated fruit flavors. Fabrizio comments, “The potential for quality is given by the grapes, but then the winemaking has to express it. Both work together and it’s a combination of the two which leads to great wine.” Silvano’s sons, Fabrizio and Marco, have taken over the vineyard and winemaking responsibilities after graduating from the school of Enology in Udine. With the ideas of a new generation, the estate is competing with the top producers of the region. Castellargo production zones extend over a total area of about 200 hectares (500 acres), from the Friuli hills to the plain of the river Tagliamento.. All wines stand out for their quality and refinement, above all for the peculiarity and character of each single vine and terroir. Agr. Lorenzo Begali Cengia- San Pietro in Cariano Begali is a family-run winery producing a total of 1,000 cases. The vineyards cover 18 acres in the rolling hills of a commune of Valpolicella, called Cengia. The name Cengia translates to ledges, and is derived from the physical appearance of these Alpine foothills. The vines are planted in a specific area known as Ca’Bianca. The winery was started after World War II when grandfather Giordano began to produce wine from the region’s native grape varieties – Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara.

The present documentation contains not only all the currently available facts but also presents long-term developmental trends in special areas. In addition, we have compiled important background information in abbreviated form. Il caloroso e benevolo accoglimento riservato dagli interessati dice chiaramente quanto fe lice sia stata l'iniziativa e quanto brillanti siano stati i risultati raggiunti, che si sono palesati anche maggiori di quelli previsti. Infa tti la valorizzazione del materiale, oltre all'ordinamento ed alla inventariazione degli atti, presupponeva anche lo studio accurato delle ori­ gini e delle competenze dell'ufficio o dell'ente che quegli atti aveva prodotto. Per cui, essendo stati illustrati nei primi due volumi 1 ottanta fondi appartenenti alle più importanti magistrature dello Stato, insieme alla storia di ogni singolo ufficio è emersa in breve sintesi anche la storia del popolo senese.
