2020 Release
NV LIQUEUR MUSCAT 2020 RELEASE Alcohol: 18.3% pH: 3.96 Total acid: 4.73g/l Residual sugar: 172g/l Harvested: N/A Bottled: 4th June 2020 Released: 7th August 2020 TASTING NOTE Modelled after the enticing and well-known fortified Muscats of the Rutherglen region in Australia, the alluring and concentrated aromatics of dried apricots and steeped Earl Grey tea with a hint of vanilla, draw you into savour this gorgeous fortified wine. Each year our Muscat grapes are allowed to raisin for as long as possible before harvest. The perfumed notes follow through on the palate where you will experience flavors of raisins, caramelized brown sugar, cinnamon and hints of Earl Grey tea notes unique to the Muscat grape varietal. This wine showcases power and complexity that can only come from time. Our Liqueur Muscat is produced in a Solera system, meaning the average age of the blend progressively becomes older. The wine is aged in neutral oak barrels and is a blend of three Muscat varietals, the dominant one being the Schönberger grape. The resulting blend is as sweet and luscious as possible yet balanced by a firm drying tanning structure on the finish. Since this wine is a combination of vintages, the Liqueur Muscat will not benefit from any additional cellaring. It is already showing aged characteristics from the multiple years in neutral barrels. It is a charming way to end an evening with this beauty. SOLERA SYSTEM The Solera System is the aging of wine by blending small fractions of the contents from different aged barrels in such a way that the finished product is a mixture of ages - with the average age gradually increasing as the process continues over many years. -

Winery of the Month
April 2020 WINERY OF THE MONTH ® RealReal Food. Food. Real Real People People..® OLIVER’S IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE SEBASTIANI VINEYARDS & WINERY AS THE WINERY OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL. Sebastiani’s first century in Sonoma winemaking began when Samuele Sebastiani emigrated from Italy in 1895 and started Sebastiani nine years later. A stonemason by trade, he quarry-mined the Sonoma hills for cobblestones that were used to build the streets of San Francisco. The winery was the only one in Sonoma County to continue operations through Prohibition, making a small amount of sacramental and medicinal wines. It has been joked, and perhaps with some grain of truth, that during this time there was a resurgence of people becoming very religious. Samuele believed in hard work and asked the same of everyone at the winery. At the same time, he was a strong supporter of the land and the people of Sonoma. When the combination of Prohibition and the Depression hit hard, Samuele initiated major projects at the winery to create employment for his neighbors. Shortly after Samuele’s death in 1944, his son, August, and August’s wife Sylvia purchased the winery from the estate and began the expansion of the facilities and the product line, adding new varietal wines and proprietary blends. August was recognized as one of America’s most skilled and innovative winemakers of the time. He respected the craftsmen of Sonoma and made use of their skills at the winery; the famous hand-carved Sebastiani barrels, which are still on display at the winery, were completed by Earle Brown in the late 1970s and early 1980s. -

Cabernet Sauvignon Thrives in J. Lohr's Paso Robles Vineyards On
Cabernet sauvignon thrives in J. Lohr’s Paso Robles vineyards on the Estrella plateau on the east side of Highway 101. aso Robles may be America’s most dynamic wine region - and its most diverse. Splendid old-vine zinfandel, ageworthy and elegant cabernet Psauvignon, spicy yet supple pinot noir, and almost any white or red variety, from pinot grigio to petite syrah, are made here. World-class bottlings of viognier, roussanne, marsanne, syrah, grenache, and mourvèdre, either as beautifully inte- grated blends or as stand-alone varietals, proudly bear the Paso Robles name. Central to the region’s dynamism is an environment that is ideal for growing quality grapes and a core of talented producers, winemakers, and growers who have been attracted by the promise of Paso Robles. Discovering Paso Robles Although many wine lovers have discovered the charms of the area’s wines, it remains unknown to some and few would be able to place Paso Robles (“pass of the oaks” in Spanish) on a map of California. The town is located roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, and the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area (AVA), a heptagon- shaped area of more than 650,000 acres, covers much of northern San Luis Obispo County. Within this vast expanse are at least eight distinct subregions: the most important are the “Estrella Triangle” or plateau on the east side of Highway 101, the old- vine vineyards near Templeton established by Italian immigrants in the 1920s, and the Adelaida hills area near the western border of the AVA, west of the town of Paso Robles. -
