Singular Selections Artisan, Estate Grown Wines SINGULAR SELECTIONS ARTISAN, ESTATE GROWN WINES We are proud to announce our partnership with Singular Selections. Singular Selection’s mission is to bring artisan wineries from the major wine producing regions of Italy to the U.S. market. They represent only small, family owned, estate-grown properties that express and personify their grape varietal type in its purest form and exemplify the truest characteristics of their terroir. Owner Marty Tiersky features limited production estates that are quality and cultural benchmarks of Italy and their respective regions. His philosophy is one of stewardship, culture and passion. La Bellanotte 2008 Armonica - 12/750ml List $146 Net $134 5+cs of btg $120 An artisan winery that encompasses eight hectares of vineyards situated between the terroirs of the Isonzo valley and Collio hills in Italy’s north eastern corner near the border with Slovenia. Ezio Benassi, a Tuscan who fought in Friuli in World War II, returned and purchased the property now known as La Bellanotte. Armonico, harmoni- ous in English, is a blend of Malvasia Istriana and Friuliana (fka Tocai). The all estate grown vineyards encompass the DOC sub zones of Collio and Isonzo. The soil is mainly calcareous with the presence of red gravel and a layer of ferrous stone. Harvesting is hand done with careful bunch selection in the winery. Aromonico displays fresh, crisp, aromatics and flavors of citrus, apple, yellow peach, pineapple and almond with mineral notes, a vibrant, lively mouth feel and a crisp acidity. La Bellanotte 2006 Merlot - 12/750ml List $216 Net $192 Tasting this wine you will perceive where this vine is produced: this region, Friuli Venezia Giulia, is reflected in this wine. You find in fact a lively ruby color, reach of light, not strong, but typical mineral. From the aroma you can understand that it is made to be ready to drink not only to be stored for years long in wine cellar. Flora aromas, bramble berry, raspberry, delicate smoky, lightly graphite memory and ground coffee. Palate: you find the wine you expected to taste after smelling it with also not aggressive tannins: blackberry, aromatic wood, liqorice, cocoa pow- der, pleasant sapidity and freshness. Good, long, delicate and lightly bitter persistence. 100% Stainless steel. La Bellanotte 2008 Pinot Grigio ‘Contelucio’ (ramato style) - 12/750ml List $216 Net $204 Named after the Count Lucio whose ghost, according to fable, inhabits the Bellanotte estate. When Pinot Grigio (grey Pinot) is left on the vine until fully ripe the skin takes on a dark pinkish hue. Maceration with the skins then results in a copper colored wine, which is traditionally called ‘Ramato.’ Ramato is the traditional style of production for Pinot Grigio in Friuli. The Pinot Grigio grapes at Bellanotte are hand harvested and after de-stemming, the juice is left on the skins in steel tanks for two days. Although the vineyards are located within the Collio and Isonzo ap- pellations, the Pinot Grigio is labeled as IGT Venezia Giulia because “ramato” is not recognized within the current Collio DOC regulations. After fermentation, the wine is matured in 500 liter barrels, 1/3 new, 1/3, one year old and 1/3 2 year old for four months. Exhibits a beautiful, copper color with luminescent clarity. The lush aromas in- clude wild strawberry, elderberry, hay and dried roses with hints of dried fruits and almond. A beautiful balance of robust fruit and crisp acidity characterize the complex palate with flavors that mirror the notes found in the wine’s bouquet. Borgo Sugame 2007 Chianti Classico - 12/750ml List $240 Net $220 Perched on a hilltop, the vineyards and winery of the Antico Borgo di Sugame overlook the beautiful Greve Valley and its expansive vineyards and olive groves. Borgo di Sugame dates back to about 1200AD, as an inhabited location. Certified Organic and owned by Lorenzo Miceli and wife, Catrina. Five hectares at an altitude of 500 me- ters comprised of sandy-lime soil with a small percentage of clay. Deeply colored with a powerful bouquet express- ing concentrated, berry fruit supported by herbal notes, rosemary and a hint of sage. Rich and structured on the palate with tannins that flow into a long finish. Cream Wine Company 118 N. Peoria, Chicago IL p: 312.421.1900 f: 312.421.1977 [email protected] SINGULAR SELECTIONS ARTISAN, ESTATE GROWN WINES The G. Camerano & Figli winery is located in the heart of the “Old Langa” region, within the village of Barolo. Founded in 1875, Camerano is the second oldest wine producer within the commune of Barolo. The family has been producing traditional, classic Pi- emontese wines for 5 generations on their estate-owned vineyards. From extreme, low-yield vines to using time honored, ultra-traditional methods. In 1995, the daughter Francesca took charge of the marketing and son Vittorio stepped into the winemaking position. Camerano 2007 Barbera d’Alba - 12/750m List $228 Net $216 The Barbera d’Alba exemplifies classically structured Barbera with great texture, concentration and grip on the palette. Fresh and vibrant, with bright, raspberry acidity, this classic Barbera displays smooth, sweet tannins and a lush, lingering finish. Camerano 2007 Dolcetto d’Alba - 12/750ml List $204 Net $180 5+cs or btg $160 Dolcetto is normally planted in areas on the fringes of the prime vineyard areas of the five primary Barolo communes around the city of Alba or on the “wrong” side of the hillsides of the Alba region. They are virtually never found alongside the prized Nebbiolo vines in vineyards that are normally dedicated to producing grapes for Barolo. The Camerano, Dolcetto d’Alba is planted in the middle of their estate grown Terlo vineyard, where the entire area’s vineyards are otherwise devoted by Camerano and every neighboring vineyard, exclusively to the cultivation of Nebbiolo for Barolo. The result is Dolcetto that is full bodied, rich and one of the most stunning ex- amples of Dolcetto produced in Piemonte. Packed with rich aromas and flavors of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, violets and red plums. Full-bodied, richly-flavored and complex with velvety tannins and a long, supple finish. Camerano 2004 Barolo ‘Terlo Gold Label’ - 12/750ml List $540 Net $504 Produced on estate holdings in the “Terlo” vineyard overlooking the village of Barolo, the Camerano “Terlo Gold Label” Barolo is quintessential, classic Barolo with aromas and flavors of dark berries, licorice, forest floor charac- ters, truffles, violets and exotic spices. It is expansive on the palate with great complexity, depth of flavor and fine, noble tannins. Total production: 500 - 600 cases. Camerano 2004 Barolo ‘Cannubi San Lorenzo’ - 12/750ml List $620 Net $580 Cannubi, also known as Cannubio, is derived from the Italian word for union, which best describes the rare hybrid of Barolo’s two distinct soil types - Tortonian and Helvetian - marrying their respective characteristics of perfume and elegance with structure and concentration. The prestigious Cannubi vineyard lies where three communes of the appellation converge: Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, and La Morra. The Cannubi vineyard extends north and eastward, overlooking the commune of Barolo. The reputation of the vineyard has become legendary; with the label of the oldest remaining bottle of Piedmontese wine bearing the name Cannubi dated at 1752. The palate is elegant, full and relatively approachable when young, with unusual integration of deep, supple berry notes over a substantial tannic structure of great aristocratic finesse and longevity. Exquisite aromas and flavors of ripe, dark cherries, minerals, rose petals, anise and exotic spices. Multi-dimensional and seamless in the mouth, this magnificent wine has superb concentration. Gianni Doglia 2008/9 Moscato d’Asti - 12/750ml List $180 Net $160 5+cs or btg $144 Gianni Doglia owns five hectares of vineyards with 20-year-old vines near the village of Castagnole Lanze in the heart of the Asti district of Piemonte. Produced from an ultra- soft pressing of the white Muscat grape, this stylishly elegant wine blends the slightly “frizzante” sweetness of Moscato d’Asti with vibrant concentration and acidity. The bouquet expresses a stunning floral perfume followed by crisp, lush flavors of white peach, melon, and honey. The Doglia Moscato is uniquely held under pressure in tanks and is bottled to order, ensuring the absolute, freshest possible expression of Moscato d’Asti throughout the vintage. 12/375ml List $150 Net $138 Cream Wine Company 118 N. Peoria, Chicago IL p: 312.421.1900 f: 312.421.1977 [email protected] SINGULAR SELECTIONS ARTISAN, ESTATE GROWN WINES Ciavolich 2008 Pecorino ‘Colline Pescarese’ Abruzzo - 12/750ml List $260 Net $240 Since 1853, Azienda Agricola Ciavolich has cultivated fine grapes from vineyards located in Abruzzo in south- central Italy. The estate consists of 44 hectares stretching between Chieti and Pecsara. 80-400 meters above sea level with 25 year old vines. Now under the control of female winemaker, Chiara Ciavolich. Hand-harvested. An ancient grape variety, brought back from the brink of extinction in the Marche and Abruzzo, the Ciavolich Pecorino is generally regarded, as the finest example of the Pecorino varietal produced in Italy today. A gorgeous, golden yellow color leads to opulent, exotic aromas of flowers, candied rose petals, peach, mango, hazelnuts and lemon peel. The full-bodied palate reveals a creamy, velvet mouthfeel with honey, pineapple, pear, apple banana almond, ginger and wild sage flavors all expressed with intense minerality, great depth and balanced acidity. Ciavolich 2007/8 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo ‘Ancilla’ - 12/750ml List $146 Net $134 5+cs or btg $120 In Abruzzo, ‘Ancilla’ the Latin word for girl, represents the young girls who served wine to the nobility of ancient Rome. Ancilla displays a deep, purple, red color and aromas and flavors of strawberry, cherry, blackberry and plums.
