We represent a group of Reenactors and Living Historians known collectively as the “A Walk in Their Boots” committee. We have for the past 8 years presented an event known as “A Walk in Their Boots”, held in most recent years at both Sycamore Shoals and Tipton Haynes. “A Walk In Their Boots” is a Multi-Era Military Timeline event. Our mission is to honor the service and sacrifice of the American Soldier, Sailor, Airman and Marine over our Nation’s History through living history events featuring military impressions, encampments, vehicles, displays , a Veterans recognition program, lecture series and battle recreations. With this year marking the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in France we have a new concept for our upcoming event, “D-Day 75th Anniversary “ which is to be held at Sycamore on Saturday August 31st ( Labor Day weekend) This will be a Living History event with representations of all aspects (Military and Civilian) pertaining to the D-Day landings and the June 1944 time period. This event will offer Displays, Period vehicles, Military encampments, Re-enactors, Living Historians, Memorabilia and more! As presentations for our indoor auditorium area we have a good mix of military and civilian displays ( D-Day overview, Milligan College - V12 program , Cadet Nurse Corps, Rayon production at our local Bemberg plant , American Red Cross in WWII, Holston Ordinance development of RDX, Women in Aviation, American Boy Scouts, just to name a few!) The event is free and open to the public! Our goal is to have the public participate in our event, displaying personal memorabilia and sharing their family’s WWII Veteran stories. Help us honor our country’s “Greatest Generation” For More organizational info please visit : www.militarywalk.us COMING ATTRACTIONS
