Art and music cross-fertilized with a vengeance following a stripped-down, hard-edged, anti- establishment ethos, with some artists plastering city walls with self-designed posters or spray painted monikers, while others commandeered abandoned buildings, turning vacant garages into makeshift theaters for Super 8 film screenings and raucous performances. Many artists found the experimental music scene more vital and conducive to their contrarian ideas than the handful of contemporary art galleries in the city. Artists in turn formed bands, performed in clubs and non- profit art galleries, and self-published their own records and zines while using public access cable channels as a venue for media experiments and cultural debates. Looking at Music: Side 2 is organized by Barbara London, Associate Curator, Department of Media and Performance Art, The Museum of Modern Art, and succeeds Looking at Music (2008), an examination of the interaction between artists and musicians of the 1960s and early 1970s.

(310)312-4305 E-mail: [email protected] October 21, 2014 Client-Matter: 45860-031 BY MESSENGER AND E-MAIL President Patsaouras and Honorable Commissioners Board of Recreation and Parks Commissioners City of Los Angeles 221 N. Figueroa Street, Room 1510 Los Angeles, CA 90012 Re: The Greek Theatre Concession Award - Response to Mayer Brown Letters of October 8, 2014 and October 20, 2014 Dear President Patsaouras and Honorable Commissioners: On behalf of Live Nation Worldwide, Inc. ("Live Nation"), we write in response to the October 8, 2014 and October 20, 2014 letters from Nederlander-AEG's legal counsel. Unfortunately, these letters are nothing more than additional attempts to confuse and delay the process after your staff and a five person independent panel of experts (the "Evaluation Panel") unanimously found that Live Nation by far delivered the superior proposal to operate the Greek Theatre for the next 20 years. Live Nation scored a total of 455 points out of a possible 500, whereas Nederlander-AEG only scored 396. Live Nation delivered a vastly superior proposal - it is that simple. This letter will demonstrate, and even the most cursory review of the two proposals will confirm, that Nederlander-AEG's proposal - like Nederlander's current operation of the Greek Theatre - leaves much to be desired. Whether it's the Nederlander-AEG proposal's inappropriate use of Patina Group venue photographs (Patina Group is not Nederlander's, but Live Nation's food and beverage partner), a capital improvement contribution that isn't even half of Live Nation's, or a misleading pro forma projecting revenue from up to 80 shows when the proposal guarantees 50 shows elsewhere, the 40-year incumbent's proposal was so flawed that it could only have come from a company with a self-entitled belief that it, and not the people of Los Angeles, own the Greek Theatre.

  • Amazon Looking to Sell Sports, Music Tickets and Encroach on Ticketmaster 11 August 2017, by Mike Snider, Usa Today
Report: Amazon looking to sell sports, music tickets and encroach on Ticketmaster 11 August 2017, by Mike Snider, Usa Today Live Nation earlier this week reported $2.8 billion in revenue for its second-quarter, which ended June 30. That up 27% over the $2.2 billion in the same period last year. Amazon has several jobs listed online for its Amazon Tickets, including a project manager for "Earth's most customer-centric ticketing company, a place where event-goers can come to find and discover any ticket they might want to buy online." Selling tickets could drive Amazon Prime memberships and bundled merchandise sales, according to the report. Amazon is reportedly in talks with sports and concert venues to sell tickets, a move that could Amazon and Live Nation declined to comment on challenge Ticketmaster's dominance in the the report. business. ©2017 USA Today Amazon, which two years ago began selling tickets Distributed by Tribune Content Agency, LLC. in the U.K., has approached U.S. venue owners about partnering to sell tickets here, too, Reuters reported Thursday, citing four sources knowledgeable about the development. The strategy amounts to a shot across the bow of event heavyweight Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster and owns or is aligned with 196 U.S. venues, including The Fillmore in San Francisco, the Hollywood Palladium and House of Blues venues. Amazon hopes to take advantage of consumer displeasure in the current state of ticket fees and sports leagues and venue operators' desire for additional competition, Reuters reported. Ticket sales represent a prime business in the U.S.

20072007 ANNUALANNUAL REPORTREPORREPO T TO OUR SHAREHOLDERS We continued to demonstrate success in 2007 in executing our strategic plan. We took multiple steps to transform Live Nation into a vertically integrated live music company that directly unites artists, fans and sponsors across all revenue generating products. We are moving ahead to capitalize on our global concert platform as artists look for expanded and new business partners. Reaching an agreement in principle with U2 for a 12-year exclusive partnership is another signifi cant validation that Live Nation is the most attractive option for the biggest artists in the world. Madonna, and now U2, believe in Live Nation and our promising future as a highly innovative music company that is responding quickly to changes in the music business landscape. As a result, we believe Live Nation is a signifi cantly stronger organization, strategically and fi nancially, than only one year ago. Over the next year, we will continue to build on our three core strategies: • Grow our global concert platform internally • Prepare to launch our global ticketing, online business in 2009 • Continue to enter relationships with touring artists for longer and wider product lines centered around our core concert business When we launched Live Nation in December 2005, the company had been declining in overall profi tability for the previous few years. We set out to stop the decline and turn Live Nation into a growth company by running our core business better and by expanding into new revenue streams. In 2007, we set out to do four main things, all of which we achieved – to improve our North American Music operations, grow our International Music platform, launch the Live Nation Artist division and defi ne our Ticketing/ Online future.
