Astonishment: There is nothing better describing the Dolo- mites than this feeling. Marvel at their beauty, their audacity, at a masterpiece of nature. It took 270 million years to make it. In the info point, they will be traversed in time-lapse - up to the present day, where the Dolomites are “UNESCO World Heritage”. The exhibition, which entertains visitors, informs them and makes them smile, also shows what lies behind it. And of course amaze. Beauty outlasts all time. But sometimes it is the time that creates beauty. It has taken millions of years for the Dolo- mites to be modelled by monumental master builders: by earth plates, volcanoes, oceans, glaciers, ice, water, wind. No wonder, then, that one feels so small in front of such a miracle of nature, and that the feeling that arises watching these mountains is an astonishment that cannot be compared with anything else. This exhibition about the Dolomites describes the development and existence of this landscape, whose “extraordinary beauty and geological peculiarity” made it UNESCO World Heritage in 2009. A beauty that will last forever.

Discover | 35 Mineral Museum Teis/Tiso Geodes of Teis
The Mineral Museum is located in the centre of Teis/Tiso in the Villnöss valley. It has been designed according to modern aspects of museum education and offers a staggering as well as informative exhibition. Besides the famous Geodes of Teis, the exhibition also features minerals from other Alpine regions visited by Paul Fischnaller in order to expand his collection. An introductory film provides even non-experts with a com- prehensive overview of the origin and nature of the minerals displayed in the museum. Every single one of the exhibits was found by Paul Fischnaller and none of them were bought or traded. The exhibition is constantly being enhanced with new, interesting pieces by Paul Fischnaller. The museum shop offers a wide choice of literature on the Mineral Museum Teis/Tiso subject as well as souvenirs, jewellery and healing stones. An exhibition dedicated to the famous Geodes of Teis, rock crystals and other Alpine minerals. Geodes of Teis can measure up to 20 cm in diameter. The exhibition area “Touching the Mountains” deals with the main theme in the Nature Park, the geology of the Dolomites. Holy Sepulchre Chapel The Holy Sepulchre Chapel was built in the late 17th century in Baroque style. The chapel has a polygonal structure, taken from the famous Church of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Inside is still a sculpture of the body of Christ and sorrowful Mother of God. The Holy Sepulchre Hill, also called Mount Calvary, is one of the most beautiful lookout point of Teis/ Tiso.

These fortifications were additionally protected by barbed wire fencing. At the end of June 1915, after only seven months of construction, the workers were recalled because they were needed in the defensive fortifications of the st1 line. However, by that time, “defensive capability” of the forti- fications around Teis had “almost been reached.” Since the front at the southern border of Tyrol held until the end of the war, these fortifications never saw any actual combat. They were however used as training bases during their construction and the war.

Der Tourismusverein tal, der Gemeinden St. Christina und Villnöß organisiert in Zusammen- arbeit mit dem Amt für Naturparks Wolkenstein in Gröden sowie der wöchentlich geführte Wanderungen Gemeinde Villnöß. Die Naturparks zu verschiedenen Themen:
>> „Anfang und Ende“: Einblick in die Schichten der Vor-Dolomiten-Zeit. >> „Fels und Quelle“: Die Bedeutung von Wald und Quelle für das gesamte System Erde.
>> „Perspektiven“: Einblick in die Vielseitigkeit von Boden, Gestein und Vegetation, zudem großartige landschaftliche Perspektiven.
>> „Herrnsteige“: Seit dem 16. Jahrhundert unterstanden viele Wälder
den Tiroler Landesfürsten. In diesen Wäldern wurden „Herrnsteige“ angelegt.
Na türl ch ich fris Naturnahes Wandern im Bei der „5. Käseolympiade“ im Oktober 2007 im Allgäu wurden 700 Käsesorten aus zehn Nationen von einer internationalen Jury bewertet.
