Kivells notice to Store Cattle Vendors It has come to our attention in recent months that a large number of in calf Store Heifers are being reported, and because of this the vendors are having to pay large vet bills and cost of losses to the purchaser. In previous years we have found that vendors who have scanned their Heifers empty at the time of their TB test, have had a stronger trade on the day, and that has covered their cost of scanning, based on this although it’s voluntary and not compulsory to scan your Heifers, we would highly recommend it. On talking to purchasers they would be more than happy to give a little extra with the guarantee of empty Heifers.

COMMUNITY CORNER Andy Berry of Berry's Agriculture would like to express his sincere thanks to all who donated towards his charity for this year's London Marathon. He had collected some £82.65 over the past 6 weeks at Holsworthy Market and this has gone towards his running total of £2274 (at time of print). He has around another £500 to come in from runner bean plant sales that he does every year for charity with his daughter Jess and some other local company pledges. Andy went up to the marathon in not the best shape as he had only managed 7 weeks out of a 16 week training plan due to various injuries but still managed to come in at 4hrs 54 mins. The theory was he maybe in pain (kicked in only after 2nd mile!!!) for only 5 hours or so but the children he was running for are disabled for the rest of their lives. As a local youth Hockey Coach, he believes that every child should have the same opportunity and independence and by choosing Whizz-Kidz, he was able to raise funds to help provide vital equipment, support and life skills they need to help transform their lives. Andy was able to meet some of these children at the running show 3 days before the marathon which gave him even greater motivation. Andy has until the 26th May to pass over all of his on-line fund raising to Whizz-Kidz. If you would like to make a donation, please visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AndyBerry3 and once again a big thank you for your kind donations.
