Research Experience

Graduate Research Assistant, University at Buffalo (SUNY), Buffalo, NY August 2014 - Present Toshiba Stroke and Vascular Research Center, Buffalo, NY Advisor: Dr. Daniel Bednarek & Dr. Stephen Rudin • (August 2014- Present) Aid in designing a real time Skin Dose Tracking System software (DTS) for fluoroscopic interventions which is licensed to Toshiba Medical System Corporation. • (August 2016 – Present) Principal developer to a system to show the scattered radiation dose rate distribution for radiologists and staffs in the room next to an interventional C-arm fluoroscopy system. • (May 2015 - October 2017) Developed a method for real-time eye lens dose estimation and implemented it into DTS. • (March 2016 - August 2017) Developed a method for calculating the entrance skin dose distribution by using a backscatter point spread function for fluoroscopically-guided interventions. • (August 2014 - June 2016) Developed a system for automatically calculating organ and effective dose for fluoroscopically-guided procedures and CBCT scans. • (June 2015 – May 2016) Developed a lateral head shielding for eye lens dose reduction during neuro-CBCT and interventional fluoroscopic procedures. • (August 2014 – July 2015) Contributed to upgrading DTS dose calculation capability while using Compensation filters, ROI beam attenuators and patient support systems. • Other laboratory work including: ˖ Review research project proposals and project timelines. ˖ Help colleagues in dose measurements with ion-chamber and radiochromic film. ˖ Help colleagues in Monte Carlo simulation.

Clinical Experience

Assistant Radiation Safety Officer, Erie County Medical Center (ECMC), Buffalo, NY (August 2014-Present)

• Maintained >50 diagnostic x-ray imagers to ensure patient safety and effective delivery of radiation to achieve a diagnostic result and better image quality, abiding by NY state health regulations. • Annual quality assurance for primary diagnostic monitors in the hospital. • Assist the RSO to do the acceptance testing for shielding design of imaging facilities. • Led and trained a group of assistant radiation safety officers for quarterly and monthly clinical duties of film badge distribution and collection, nuclear medicine ALARA audits, swipe tests and sealed source leak test. • Monthly orientation lectures for all new hospital employees regarding radiation safety and imaging physics. • Distribution and collection of hundreds of radiation monitoring badges. • Periodic radioactive testing of the nuclear medicine department and radioactive waste storage areas.
