8. Message from PEACE participants

I was working within the ministry of Higher education in Afghanistan as lecturer in Herat University where my main major responsibilities were to hold lectures in veterinary subjects within the faculty of Veterinary Sciences. In accordance to the necessity requirement of the Faculty, I have had to obtain my master degree in the same related fields. Soon after the 3rd batch of JICA program announced and I was nominated for this program, I was deeply looking for to find the most appropriate university where I could do my researches and the master course accordingly with Afghanistan requirements’. I finally found the University of Tokyo the best for me since there are good and experienced professors within the IPADS program for the international students which facilitates and drives vary of the most global related important field of studies in agriculture/animal sciences. I could easily find a professor for me which he specialized in Animal Sciences, and then I decided to come here after finishing the whole selection processes of scholarship funder and have started my research under professor’s supervision. My supervisor always gives me good and clear advices about my studies and also kindly offers me suggestions to enjoy my life here in Tokyo. I have to lean a lot and have to do more about my studies, but for my personal life, I also would like to learn Japanese Language, which the university offered me and prepared me the learning classes where I can learn Japanese Language faster and better. The university also has prepared a kind of multi-cultural and friendly atmosphere for all international students to learn more about each individuals’ culture and much more about real Japanese culture. I definitely have wonderful life here, I know before coming to Japan there are too many stress and worries new comers would feel. But the fact is that the University of Tokyo has observed most of these important stressors, as an example, the Muslims would be worry about Hala Foods and Praying Places. It should be mentioned that the University of Tokyo has several praying places in its campuses and halal foods in each cafeteria and restaurants. I am sure everyone will have wonderful time while studying here and great life within the University of Tokyo and could easily find good Japanese friends. Finally, I feel really great for being in such a most prestigious university in Asia and I feel amazing for being in such a wonderful and fantastic atmosphere at the University of Tokyo in each season and time of the year.
