6 Why Waseda Business School? Why Waseda Business School? 7 International MBA Program Coordinator Prof. Akie IRIYAMA

Thank you for considering applying to the International MBA program at Waseda Business School! Our school is one of the most emerging busi- ness schools globally, which is reflected in our ranking (WBS is ranked No.1 in Japan in QS Global MBA Rankings and Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking). The International MBA program is our flagship program. We an- nually welcome about 70-80 talented students from about 30 countries. Our program offers great and unique opportunities for you, all of which follow our three core visions. First, we emphasize “Actionable Knowledge.” We believe knowledge must be acted upon in practice. For this reason, many of our faculty members have an amazing wealth of practical experience. Second, we foster “Community-Based Learning.” We have a unique “Zemi” system, in which you have deep one-on-one communication with professors. Third, we seek to develop “Global Leaders.” As mentioned above, we have a highly diversified body of students, and you will have many opportunities to mingle with them and even with Japanese Evening MBA students (many of whom are currently working for leading Japa- nese companies). Finally, I am afraid that amid this tough situation triggered by COVID-19 crisis, some of you may be anxious about studying overseas. WBS will do our very best to support your smooth transition to MBA life, both physically and virtually. Overall, our International MBA program of- fers you an amazing set of opportunities for you to develop and inspire yourself. I hope I can see you on the WBS campus quite soon!

Student Testimonial A Blend of Asian and Western Styles

What differentiates WBS from other schools is that it has a very broad multicultural composition. Since the first day we join the classroom we can interact with students from a multitude of countries and a wide array of backgrounds. This is also very noticeable with the professors, some of them being highly qualified academic researchers, while others come from top companies and with a unique working experience that usually brings very interesting insights from their industries into our discussions. Finally, the classes are given in a way that we learn about management, strategy, leadership and innovation in the western world, but we also analyze business cases from Asia with all their characteristics and distinct cultures blended into them. I believe understanding how culture affects business in different areas of the world is of the utmost importance in the globalized world we live in.

Student Testimonial My Great MBA Life in Tokyo

Having worked for Japanese automotive makers in India and wanting to get a deeper insight into Business, Leadership, and the Japanese way of management, WBS became a natural choice for me. I enjoy how professors have a very practical approach to teaching, drawing from their rich experience in the industry to discuss various facets of conducting business and making decisions. I also was able to have engaging discussions with amazing peers who come from diverse experiences. Anyone studying here will surely get ample opportunities to think like a leader to sharpen their skills and a lot more to improve, based on feedback and discussions. Lastly, I wouldn't be giving full insight into my MBA life if I don't talk about Tokyo, which is full of opportunities and experiences, and adds a holistic value to anyone's student life here. I am happy that I got to have this experience through Waseda.

Broadening the Horizons on Different Cultures

The DMBA with Waseda and NTU has certainly exceeded my expectations . From the ease of getting around campus, prime residence location, the variety of business lectures available, to the school and administrative support, the DMBA journey has been a thrill and a growing experience to say the least. While being in a foreign place, I never felt alone or left to tackle the obstacles that came my way because of the support and team that was there for me. Additionally, the curriculum provides a holistic view of business from all parts of the world in all the industries we want to learn more about. This DMBA is something everyone should consider doing if they are passionate about learning about Asia, business, broadening their horizons on different cultures and languages, and ultimately growing as an individual.

Combination of Theory and Practice

The MSF program at Waseda Business School not only provides students with a comprehensive finance curriculum, but also focuses on designing the courses so that they will best fit with practical business situations. Professors have both excellent academic backgrounds and practical business experience so that when helping students to better understand theories and methodologies, they can also apply those in real business scenarios by referring to self-experience and case studies.
