ABSTRACT Digital India is the outcome of many innovations and technology advancements. The 'Digital India' programme, an initiative of honorable Prime Minister Mr. , will emerge new progressions in every sector. The motive behind the concept of Digital India is to provide services electronically and promote digital literacy. The Digital India is a dream project of the Indian Government to remodel India into a knowledgeable economy and digitally empowered society. Today, many nations are fully digitalized and other wants to be fully digitalized that can transform the lives of people in many ways and will empower the society in a better way. The objective of this paper is to understand to know the Digital India – where technologies and connectivity will come together to make an impact on all aspects of governance and improve the life style of citizens. The paper also describes whether India is ready to be digitized and what are the projects run by the government to make fully digital India.

I. INTRODUCTION From smart phones to laptops to GPS devices, it’s hard to imagine life without technology. In 21st century, one of the most important technologies is the supremacy of the Digitisation which means the system which allows the each and every person to communicate globally. Another part of digitisation is the advancement of smart phones that gives the single touch access to the online services all over the world. With Digital India project, the government is ready for the big plan by connecting each service through electronic platform. This facility will aim to reduce the usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across organizations. Number of mobile applications and portals will be developed by the government which gives the freedom to access the data while on the move. Companies all over the world desire to invest in Digital India- the 21st century India, as a growth opportunity. Global investors like Sundar Pichai (CEO of ), Satya Nadella (CEO of ), Elon Musk (CEO of SpaceX) have supported Modi's Digital India initiative.

II. OBJECTIVES To know how the technologies will make an impact on all aspects of governance and improve the life of people. 611 | P a g e

III. DATA COLLECTION Secondary data has been collected from various journals, magazines and from websites. Qualitative and quantitative data have been used to know more about the application and its impact on the economy.

IV. DIGITAL INDIA The programme contains tasks that target to make sure that government services are available to people digitally and people get advantage of the newest information and connections technological innovation. Gandhi Ji felt that 'India resides in its villages,' and technology will help the villages to grow and prosper. Digital libraries, online magazines, e-books can be made available for free which will further help in knowledge sharing. Our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi rightly said in his speech in San Jose, "I see technology as a means to empower and as a tool that bridges the distance between hope and opportunity. Social media is reducing social barriers. It connects people on the strength of human values, not identities." Technology is a bridge indeed, a bridge that connects the hope that India's villages will be educated and aware to the opportunity of internet and access to information from across the world. 'Digital India' is not just an initiative but a need for the country, where majority of population still does not have access to the world of internet. The Digital India initiative seeks to lay emphasis on e-governance and transform India into a digitally empowered society. It is to ensure that government and other services are available to citizens electronically. Digital India also aims to transform ease of doing business in the country. The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (deitY) anticipates that this program will have a huge impact on the Ministry of Communication and IT. It will focus on providing high speed internet services to its citizens and make services available in real time for both online and mobile platform. Modi's government is focussing on providing broadband services in all villages of the country, tele-medicine and mobile healthcare services and making the governance more participative. This initiative will ensure that all government and other services and information are available anywhere, anytime, on any device that are user friendly and secured. 4.1 Vision of Digital India

V. IS INDIA DIGITALLY READY There is no doubt in it. India is ready for this. Immediately with the introduction of this campaign, many organizations came forward to lend their hands for achieving India a digitally equipped country. Organizations like BSNL, Reliance Ltd. are coming forward to spread digitalization among rural areas. And over 42000 villages all over India will be having seamless mobile connectivity by 2018. The prime importance is to make sure every individual can be able to leverage the potential of Digital India. The focus is at least one person in a household should transform into an e-literate. This can be achieved by BBNL which is planning to connect 2, 50,000 panchayats under the scheme. This will ensure the digitization and connectivity of local institutions like panchayats offices, schools, other government offices and libraries etc. India is reforming its government through technology in the name of E-Governance with the advancement of technology and digitalization. Under the e-governance programme, out of 252 schemes planned, 222 services have been provided in short span of time. The nine pillars of Digital India programme clearly confirms that India as a nation is at its nascent stage. One can easily assure that India will be digitally ready in the next three years.

VII. DIGITALIZATION MEGATREND: A TRULY LINKED INDIA In the coming years, an entire generation will have grown up in a primarily digital world. Technologies like PCs, the Internet, smart phones, texting, social networking websites will fully contribute to this megatrend. The

process of digitization can easily be achieved when people can access government services through the magic of the Internet. This is the aim of digitizing India to make an India a powerful domain. There are some influential forces that help in the digitization process.  Consumer Pull: 21st century users are fully engaged and adapted in the digital environment. All are virtually connected in entertainment, news, reaching out to their friends through social media such as and Twitter. This new trend is dispersing speedily as every individual wants to connect with the global information flow.  Technology Push: Information communications technology is one of the fastest growing technologies that give huge potential for every country backbone. With their prodigious and increasing presence in our lives, it gives freedom to stay connected and access online information with digital cloud based services. Economic Benefits: The Digital India initiative has huge potential to empower the country and aid economic growth by connecting latest technology trends. Industry leaders from all over the world are willing to invest billions of dollars in this project. New job opportunities will take place and it will probably take India to greater heights. [4] VIII. IMPACT OF DIGITAL INDIA BY 2019 According to the current scenario, by 2019, below are some digital impacts on India [5]:  Broadband in 2.5 lakh villages, universal phone connectivity.  Net zero imports by 2020.  400,000 public internet access points.  Wi-Fi in 2.5 lakh schools, all universities; Public Wi-Fi hotspots for citizens.  Digital inclusion: 1.7 Cr trained for IT, telecom and electronics jobs.  Job creation: direct 1.7 Cr and indirect at least 8.5 Cr.  E-Governance & E-Services: Across government.  India to be leader in IT use in services – health, education, banking, etc.

IX. : BOOST FOR THE ECONOMY The Digital India vision aims to transform India into a digital economy with participation from citizens, businesses and promises to make India an important investment destination. Sectors like financial, edification, healthcare, automobiles and many more all over the world is ready to contribute in this mega project. New potentials will arise to change this development model. Villages will turn into smart economic centers that join farmers directly to e-markets to know the price and make them less vulnerable to the whims of weather. During the Prime Minister recent visit to United States and meeting with Sundar Pichai, CEO Google, he has shown interest in providing free public WiFi in hundreds of Indian railroad stations, which are major transit and social hubs for their communities. This rebellion will open affordability of products and services in better ways. We

Indians and others, have worked together to shape the knowledge economy. Our contribution to sustainable development of one-sixth of humanity will be a foremost force of noble for our world and our planet. [9] X. CONCLUSION In this digital age, every civilian has a clear vision to make over the lives in many ways that were hard to imagine just a couple of years ago. With the coming up of “Digital India” campaign, India will have a solid and powerful digital infrastructure. All educational institutions and government services will soon be able to provide I-ways round the clock. Tech giants from all over the world are willing to actively participate in this dream campaign. More employment projection will open for the youth that will enhance the nation’s economy. Let us all look onward for the victorious execution for this project for the brighter and prosperous India and hope India will again called a Golden Sparrow. [4]
