The Congress took place September 17-21, 2007 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Bearing the authentic signatures of sixty-two of the participating astronauts from 15 nations, it is part of a series of limited collector’s edition posters that have been produced and signed at each ASE Congress since the Association was founded in 1985.
The poster has two headings, the main heading in English at the top, with the Russian displayed at the bottom. Around the periphery are printed translations of “Association of Space Explorers” in the native languages of the ASE members who have flown in space. The central image was designed by ASE member Alexei Leonov; it represents Sputnik, the world’s first artificial satellite, with a stylized reflection of the Thistle, the national flower of Scotland.
