This is a list of specific items you should try to bring with you to Walnut Hill. These items, especially clothing items, are fairly standard things to have in your wardrobe as a classical musician, and you will get a lot of use out of them. CLOTHING:
• Audition outfit — not formal, but modest, professional and polished. o men might wear a suit jacket, button down shirt, and tie; tie-up shoes and dress socks; or a button down shirt and tie without the jacket. o ladies might wear a dress, knee length or longer, or very dressy slacks, and heeled but comfortable shoes. Leggings are not appropriate for auditions. • Appropriate supportive undergarments for work-out clothes, audition clothes, and formal clothes • Appropriate clothing for lessons and coachings — clothing should cover midriff and shoulders (modest tank tops ok) and allow full range of movement, while maintaining modesty. Please steer clear of any heel higher than character shoe height. Conservative dress please. o Men: “Tux-like” attire - black suit coat, white shirt, black bow tie, black suit pants, formal black shoes, and black socks.

SHOES:
• Women: o character shoes for opera and movement, with heel, tan and/or black. o shoes for audition wear o shoes for formal wear • Men: tie up dress shoes. Black and/or brown.
HAIR/MAKEUP SUPPLIES:
• Deodorant and personal hygiene supplies (Please wear deodorant and come clean to all group rehearsals, classes, and lessons). • Stage makeup and formal makeup basics: o Foundation that matches your skin tone, and foundation one shade darker o Blush, in a natural shade and one shade deeper o Brown eye pencil o Black eye pencil o lip color slightly deeper than your natural color (a pinkish 'nude’) • Additional options for women: o Mascara o Neutral pink lip color o Neutral warm lip color o Red lip color • Hair pins • curlers /curling iron, if useful • brush • comb • hairspray
OTHER:
• Smart phone or other device suitable for recording voice lessons • Clean, functional 3-ring binder to be dedicated to organized voice repertoire. • Repertoire from last year • Repertoire list (list of music you have prepared in lessons before, to share with your teacher)
