The famous architect Antoni Gaudi grew up here. Antoni Gaudi lived between 1852 and 1926 and created a new style of Architecture called Catalan Modernism.

He used shapes from nature in his buildings.

His most famous building is the Sagrada Família cathedral in .

Many buildings in Reus have been built in the Modernist style.

Reus is the Catalan Capital of Culture 2017.

Gaudi Museum This is in the Market Square (called Mercadal Plaça in Spanish) in the city centre.

There is also a tourist office, a shop and a restaurant.

Xavier Amorós Solà is a famous poet and writer who comes from Reus.

The Market The Central Market is on Carrer de Sant Joan.

Walk around Reus.

Modernist Buildings This walk goes through the centre of Reus. You will see many buildings of the Catalan Modernism style. The pavement might be uneven on this walk, but it is mostly accessible to wheelchair users.

The walk starts at Casa Navàs on Plaça del Mercadal

Casa Navàs This is one of the best examples of a building in the European Art Nouveau style.

If you want to look around it, you have to book at the tourist office.

Walk down Carrer de Monterols and turn right into Raval de Santa Anna.

At the junction with Carrer de Santa Anna is the very unusual building…

Casa Marco Casa Marco was built in 1926. It has an unusual corner with a square and round box shape.

Now go back down Raval de Santa Anna and turn right into Carrer de Llovera. On your left, you will see… Casa Bartolí This building is unusual because the front is all carved stone. It was built in 1903.

Carry on down Carrer de Llovera until you see, on your right…

Casa Punyed This house is in a style called Neo- Gothic. It has an interesting design based on plants.

Casa Gasull Built in 1911. Part of the walls have been decorated with little bits of pottery brought from Milan.
