Advanced Digital Photography
While you’re waiting you can check out our library's virtual tour at http://goo.gl/v3jbV for an example of 360° Panoramas. What We Will Cover
The technology of the camera. How it affects your pictures.
How to use the shutter, aperture, & "film speed".
Composition, Lighting, Perspective, Depth of Field.
Two new kinds of photography made possible by digital: HDR, 360° Panoramic
Shutter
Aperture: Controls the amount of light that is allowed in. It also has a strong effect on depth of field. The depth of field gets larger with higher f/number (smaller aperture) Depth of Field
Hyperfocal Distance: Is a way to calculate the span of your depth of field so you can shift your focus to make the best use of the area in focus. Lens
Quality lenses are constructed with multiple elements configured in groups. In an effort to correct image problems. One problem that has to be dealt with is color aberration. Picture Effect Controlling Factors Technology

Motion Blur Photographers Hands Tripod Subject Shutter Speed
Brightness Sunlight Aperture, Shutter Speed, Lighting / Flash Film Speed,
Picture with subject in sharp focus but background blurred. Use a long telephoto lens or a lens with a low aperture f2.0 or less.
Freeze the action of a sporting event. Use a film speed of 400 or more. Use shutter priority mode. Set the shutter to 1/250th of a second. Let the camera set the aperture. For handheld photography keep the shutter speed faster than 1/60th of a second.
Error on the side of a slightly dark photo. In digital you can lighten pictures dark areas a lot but you cannot darken a white out area. Use the histogram feature. Use exposure bracketing.
Lighting
Photography is an art based on capturing light. Sometimes you will capture the light as it exists in the scene. Sometimes you have to create the effect you want. That is the art.
The technology is synchronizing a flash to the shutter. Usually at 1/60 of a second. Some cameras have high speed sync above that. Color Temperature or White Balance
Sunlight / Incandescent / Fluorescent
How good is your camera's auto white balance?
It can be adjusted with software after taking but best when taken correctly. Perspective

HDR Photography
High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range between the lightest and darkest areas of an image.
