Mission Statement St. Martin of Tours parish is devoted to its people and its traditions, while actively seeking to grow as we share our message of God’s Love with the surrounding community. Call the rectory for individual reception of Sacrament. Baptism: Baptismal Preparation sessions and scheduling of the Baptism may be arranged by contacting the rectory. Parents are required to attend one Baptismal Preparation Session. Parents are encouraged to attend the Preparation session while awaiting the arrival of their child. Marriage: Arrangements for weddings are made by calling one of the priests or Deacons for preparations and scheduling at least 6 months prior to the anticipated wedding date. Reconciliation: Every Saturday 3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. or by appointment with priest. Registration: Call the rectory for information.

Adult Education We provide opportunities for growth in understanding and appreciation of our Catholic faith by sponsoring Archdiocesan suggested programs and other formats and topics that are designed to fit a particular parish interest. Altar Society There are five teams of women and men who do light cleaning of the church on a weekly basis. They organize the general cleaning twice a year recruiting other parishioners for assistance. Athletic Association The purpose of the Athletic Association is to provide leadership and sponsorship for the athletic programs at St. Martin of Tours. Membership is open to all men and women of the Parish. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month in the Lower Level at 8:00 p.m. Bingo Committee The purpose of the Bingo Committee is to organize and manage the Parish Bingo. Volunteers and players are always welcome. Blood Drive For over 75 years, the parishioners of St. Martin of Tours have participated in annual Blood Drives that are held in Runge Hall. This committee, coordinating with Mercy Medical Center, organizes drives which are normally scheduled on a Saturday in June and Sunday in November.

Bowling League Recreational bowling leagues for men and women are held in the fall on Tuesday evenings at DuBowl Lanes. Building and Property This committee observes and inspects the buildings and grounds of the parish and proposes action for maintaining and improving the physical plant. Calendar All parish committees and organizations submit their annual schedule of meeting dates in writing or by email to the rectory in November to reserve meeting rooms. Cantors The role of the cantor is to sing the Responsorial Psalm, Gospel Acclamation, and assist the singing of the assembly during the liturgy. All cantors must complete an audition and training. Choir The sung liturgy is a vital part of our parish life. The talents and skills of many people are utilized to enhance our liturgies. Parish Choir The Parish Choir usually sings at 10:00 a.m. Mass on various feasts throughout the year. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. This choir is open to all parishioners. Eucharistic Adoration Adoration is held every Wednesday from after the 8:00 a.m. Mass until the following Friday at noon to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. We gather in praise and thanksgiving before Jesus Christ. All are welcome. Please sign up for a specific time with the coordinator. Extraordinary Ministers A group of Extraordinary Ministers who assist the priests and deacons when needed in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ. Fifty Plus (50+) Club A group of men and women age 50 or older. Current membership is around 100. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month in the lower level at 11:30 a.m., followed by cake, coffee and bingo. COME JOIN US. Finance Committee The finance committee assists the Pastor in the stewardship of funds of the parish. The committee meets periodically throughout the year. Funeral Choir Parishioners who enjoy singing and who are available in the morning during the week gather at Funeral Masses to support the participants with the responses and singing.

Funeral Luncheon The Funeral Luncheon Committee prepares and serves meals in Runge Hall after Funerals. They provide care and support at a difficult time for those in our parish. It allows those who are grieving to focus on their families and friends while the Funeral Luncheon Committee does the preparation and servicing of the post-funeral meal. Please contact the Funeral Luncheon coordinator if you have an interest in joining the group, even if you cannot come to the luncheons and just want to contribute a dish. Gift Bearers This ministry, of loving service, is very important. Participation of the assembly is being expressed by its offering of the bread and , together with other gifts, for the needs of the church and the poor. Hall Rental Parishioners who would like to rent the Hall (Lower Level) should contact the rectory. Homebound Ministry A group of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who bring the Body of Christ to our homebound parishioners. Lectors Reading the Word of the Lord at each Mass is the responsibility of our lectors. Lectoring is not a duty, but an honor that brings many blessings to those who proclaim. You are cordially invited to contact the lector coordinator if you have an interest in joining the group. Liturgy Commission The Liturgy Commission, under the direction of the pastor, oversees the planning and coordination of all the various ministries involved in our parish worship. Men’s Social Club This organization provides events for the men of the parish. All men of the parish are welcome and encouraged to join in the club activities. The main activities are the annual corned beef and cabbage social, parish barbecues, and the party. Parish Council The Parish Council is a representative group of parishioners who prayerfully discuss the needs of the parish community. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month. The Parish Council serves as a catalyst by which the people of St. Martin of Tours share in their common baptismal call to proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the liturgy, pray, serve the people of God, and build community.

Parish School of Religion Our PSR classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Church, 309 Hoffmeister Ave., Lemay, MO 63125. Our PSR is designed for children from K-8th Grade who attend public schools. Our PSR systematically and intentionally, within an age appropriate and family sensitive curriculum, supports the right of every Baptized person to a religious education. Our PSR has a goal, a fully expressed Sacramental life, a satisfying prayer life, and a life integrated with the moral teachings and doctrines of the . Prayer Chain The Prayer Chain is made up of parishioners who take time each day to pray for specific intentions as called in by parishioners. Our members pray individually as their time allots, and prayer intentions do not have to be specific to our parish community. Contact the coordinators for more information. Quilters The quilters are a group of women who meet to quilt. Everyone is welcome. They are always happy to teach beginners. They meet every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Lower Level. RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults helps non-baptized persons, those baptized in another Christian Tradition, or those baptized as Catholic, but not raised as Catholic. The process helps them better understand the Catholic Faith in preparing to enter the Catholic Church. It is a time to listen to God, to each other, and to the wisdom of the tradition of the Catholic Church. Sessions are scheduled year- round. Please call the rectory for more information. RCIC The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children is the process of preparing children and teens for receiving the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation and Eucharist. The kind and length of this process depends upon the age and needs of the child and family. For more information, please contact the rectory. Respect Life The members of the Respect Life Group commit themselves to prayer, education, and action in defense of life. It is their mission to foster in our parish community an awareness of the dignity and sanctity of all human life, from conception to natural death. Members are dedicated to observing and promoting the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church on all life issues, including abortion, euthanasia, infanticide, assisted suicide, and stem cell research. “I set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore, CHOOSE LIFE, that you and your seed may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19

Retreats Annual retreats are planned for both men and women of the parish. Contact the coordinators and watch the bulletin for information regarding dates. Sacramental Preparation Children are required to be enrolled in a formal religious education or home school program prior to First Reconciliation and Eucharist. Sacramental Preparation programs are established following Archdiocese guidelines for Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation and Eucharist. Contact the rectory for more information. Safe Environment Program It is the policy of the Archdiocese of St. Louis that all clergy, employees, and volunteers whose service in the Church brings them into contact with children and/or vulnerable adults must have a regular background check conducted through the Missouri Family Care State Registry and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for those who have lived outside of the state of Missouri. They must also attend a Protecting God’s Children Workshop and sign a Code of Ethical Conduct. The Church relies on the help of God’s grace to remain firm in Her resolve and effective in Her action to protect children and any who are vulnerable. Let us pray that we may always express the love of Christ for children and the most vulnerable in our midst. St. Vincent DePaul Society This group attempts to carry out Our Lord’s mandate: to help those in need. They organize what help can be given to those within our parish boundaries. Monthly meetings are held, discussing assistance to be given, with all matters remaining confidential. Servers Altar servers assist the priest and deacon during liturgical celebrations. Stewardship The stewardship committee uses the resource of the Archdiocesan Office of Stewardship to educate on the responsibilities of good stewards and to foster a spirit of stewarding at St. Martin of Tours. Ushers/Greeters We are a ministry of hospitality. Our basic duty is to serve and welcome the people coming and going from the church premises. We partake in the Mass and have the duty to take up a collection of the offering. Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School is offered for one week, Monday thru Friday-9:00 a.m. till noon, during the summer at St. Andrew Church, 309 Hoffmeister Ave., Lemay, MO 63125. Five days of prayer, songs, games and fun activities for children, age three through grade eight.

Welcoming Committee This committee contacts new parishioners once they have registered in the parish. The intent is to welcome the individuals and distribute information about the parish organizations and events. Women’s Club Our focus is on the Spiritual work, charitable work and Social entertainment for the women in our parish and community.
