Report for the Month of January 2019

1. Central Office

Token Assistant to retired employees

With the approval of Governing Board and Finance Committee a scheme to provide a token assistance @Rs.500/- per month to defray medical expenses has been implemented w.e.f. January, 2019 to all retired employees of . The expenditure is met from the interest earned from the Staff Welfare Fund. In the month of January 2019, the benefit was given to 39 retired employees.

Capital Works

In connection with the Bharata Kalakshetra Auditorium work, the following works have been undertaken departmentally—

Provision of mirrors with lights for two Green Rooms (total 30 mirrors) at a cost of Rs.5,55,524/-

Works undertaken on nomination basis – (i) clearing of parking area of bushes, removal of debris and paving the parking area with gravel. (ii) Revamping of Auditorium Kitchen (iii) Provision of ventilation to Green Rooms by laying ducts and installing fresh air fan and exhaust fans Provision of ramp at the entrance of Craft Education and Research Centre at a cost of Rs.1,95,560/-

2. Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts

(i) Lecture demonstration by Ms. Oxana was conducted on "Preventing injury awareness on deep passive stretch technique" for the 1st & 2nd year dance students on 03.01.2019.

(ii) Convocation: Convocation for the academic year 2017-2018 was held on 5.1.2019. Padmasri Dr. Bharati Shivaji presided over the function and distributed the diplomas and post diploma certificates to the students. Diploma and Post Diploma awarded are—

(iii) Shri S. Jayachandran did a lecture demonstration on "Temple - rituals” on 19.1.2019 for the 3rd & 4th year Dance Students.

(iv) Republic Day was celebrated at BTHS School, students from RDCFA also participated in the cultural programmes on that day.

(v) Thyagaraja Aradhana was celebrated on 25.1.2019 with grandeur at Kalakshetra with the bhajans and procession upto Sri and back. Staff and students of Kalakshetra rendered Pancha Rathna Krithis.

4. Museum

 23 artefacts (17 stone and 6 wood) were shifted from museum to Koothambalam.  4 artefacts from Rukmini Devi Collection were catalogued.

5. Theatre

(i) Kalakshetra repertory at The Madras Music Academy on 3rd January Kalakshetra Foundation has performed dance drama “Shanti Sutra” for The Madras Music Academy on 3rd January, 2019 for their Annual Dance festival. Payment received – Rs. 1,25,000/-

(ii) Kalakshetra Global Investors meet, Government of Tamilnadu organized by Conferderation of Indian Industry

Kalakshetra Foundation gave a dance presentation for Global investors meet at trade Centre on 23rd January ,2019. Total Receipt – Rs. 2,61,360/-`

(iii) Trinity Festival 25th and 26th January at Rukmini Arangam

In order to celebrate the Trinity of , Kalakshetra Foundation conducted a two-day festival named ‘Trinity Festival’ on 25th & 26th January 2019 in which eminent artists in the field of Carnatic Music were showcased. The following performed in the festival— a. 25.1.2019: Carnatic Vocal by Maharajapuram Shri. S. Srinivasan b. 26.1.2019: Harikatha performance on 'Trinity of Carnatic Music' by Smt. Vishaka Hari

Monthly Concert Kalakshetra Foundation conducted its regular Monthly program on 31.1.2019 in which Smt. Divya Shiava Sunder performed .

6. Outreach

(i) In collaboration with NGO – Aanmajothi, dance classes are conducted in 7 schools for under privileged children. (ii) Publicity was given in print media and social media such as Facebook, Instagram and twitter (iii) An amount of Rs.5 Lakhs was received towards scholarship from Murugappa (Ti financial holding Ltd) for the students of RDCFA. (iv) Updated Cultural ministry’s weekly social online report

7. Besant Arundale Senior Secondary School

 On 08/01/2019 School Celebrated Margazhi Utsav. Class XI students of Fine Arts performed classical dance to Tiruppavai Songs.  On 26/01/2019 Republic Day was Celebrated at Besant Theosophical Higher Secondary School.

8. Besant Theosophical Higher Secondary School

On 26th January, 2019 Republic Day was celebrated in a grand manner with Dramas, Song and Yoga. Chief Guest for the function was Sri Ujjahar Singh (I.A.S. Retired).

On 29th January, 2019, Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Modi addressed the students “Pariksha Ke Charcha 2.0” live programme for the exam going students which was witnessed by the students.
