En FAES habíamos alertado con tiempo de la llegada de la crisis. El Observatorio Económico FAES había anticipado, desde 2007, su profundidad y gravedad. Y durante el año 2008, la Fundación realizó un intenso trabajo de análisis de la situación y de propuestas, tanto para paliar los efectos de la crisis como para ayudar a salir de ella. Desde julio de 2008, además, FAES elabora y publica una Síntesis Mensual de Indicadores Económicos que ofrecen una fotografía comparada de la situación económica.
