1 Penderyn Sales 2020

Herbert R Thomas will operate Penderyn Market this season with several restrictions everybody must comply with. These restrictions have been produced by the Livestock Auctioneers Association along with the Welsh Government and have been implemented to ensure the safety of all vendors, buyers and our staff.

Penderyn Market will adhere to the conditions as detailed below:

Buyers

 We will enforce buyer restrictions to allow for social distancing, not allowing more people at the ringside than the 2m gap allow. Only one buyer per business should attend. There will be a one way system in operation to enter and leave the ringside.  We strongly advise purchasers to ‘double up’, with one person to buy for multiple clients.  All purchasers must notify the auctioneers of their intention to attend the sale prior to the sale day to ensure social distancing can be maintained.  Markets will keep a register of those that attend their sales – contact name, address and telephone number as part of the Government’s track and trace service.  Markets will ensure that the highest hygiene prevention measures are in place.  No “gathering” will be permitted and all alleyways and pen sides should be kept clear at all times. The café will operate as a takeway services, no chairs will be available. Only two people can enter the café at one time to ensure no gatherings occur.  At the conclusion of the sale buyers will be asked to enter the sales office in a way that does not result in too many entering at any one time. A maximum of two buyers are allowed to enter the office at one time, there will be one way system in operation  Buyers will be asked to sanitise on entry to the market and again on exit.

Vendors

 We encourage vendors to “drop and go” wherever possible. In any event, only one member of the business should attend to ensure social distancing measures are maintained.  The sale documentation will be collected by the market staff from the vendors when they arrive at the unloading docks – Vendors MUST NOT enter the market office, or enter the ringside or congregate in the alleyways. The ringside will be reserved for registered buyers only, strictly no vendors or onlookers to ensure the 2 metre rule can be complied with at all times.  We appreciate that many vendors will want to see their stock being sold. Therefore, one person will be permitted to follow their stock through the ring. They should then leave straight after their stock is sold. 2 Face masks must be worn by vendors and buyers in all indoor areas of the market

We advise anyone who is considered to be in the ‘at risk’ category, i.e. the elderly, and anyone with pre-existing or underlying health conditions not to attend Penderyn sales.

Our fixture list is available on our website along with Entry Forms for the breeding sales. All vendors must submit their entry forms before the deadline stated to ensure inclusion in the catalogue.

Catalogues will be produced and will be live on our website a week before the sale. A limited number of catalogues will be available on the day of sale. All entries and enquiries can be emailed to [email protected]. Electronic versions of the catalogue will emailed if requested.

CONDITIONS OF SALE

All stock is offered for sale in accordance with the Current Edition of the Conditions of Sale as published by: The Livestock Auctioneers Association, a copy of which is displayed in the Market Office

E.I.D. SCANNING

All sheep with EID tags must be penned and sorted by 8.30am, to allow time for tags to be scanned.

PLEASE NOTE

On a Lot being knocked down, the successful Purchaser is to give his/her name and address to the Auctioneers Clerk immediately. Failure to do so will result in the lot being re-offered for sale

DIRECTIONS TO PENDERYN MARKET

From the M4 Motorway Junction 32, take the A470 dual carriageway heading towards Merthyr Tydfil. Continue on this road travelling over four roundabouts. At the fifth roundabout turn left onto the A465 (Heads of the Valleys Road). At the roundabout take the second exit and at the next roundabout take the third exit onto the A4059 signposted Brecon. Proceed into the village of Penderyn, turning left immediately before the Lamb Hotel, turn left again and the sale yard is situated on your right hand side.

20.7 – Retention of Livestock Notwithstanding delivery and the passing of risk, property in and title to the Livestock sold shall remain with the Auctioneer until the Auctioneer has received payment of the full price of:- (a) All livestock and/or services the subject of the contract, And (b) All other Livestock and/or services sold by the Auctioneer to the Buyer under any contract whatsoever. Payment of the purchase price shall include, without limitation, the amount of any interest or other sum payable under the terms of this and all other contracts between the Auctioneer and the Buyer
