Tocumen International Airport registered a total of 15,616,065 passengers in 2017, this represented a 5.9% growth in passengers traffic compared to the previous year. This growth translates into a figure of 874,128 passengers more than last year.

Chart 1 shows the behavior of passenger traffic by type, which reflects a moderate but continuous growth in passengers in transit who had 69% participation in 2016 and 71% in 2017, on the other hand it is observed that the participation of passengers embarked and disembarked in 2017 decreased 1%.

In the monthly passenger movement by airline, we highlight the highest peak in each airline. The highest peak in total occurred in the month of July 2017, We see the start of operations of 2 Turpial airlines with flights to Valencia, Venezuela in May and Estelar in August with flights to Caracas and Maracaibo. Santa Barbara suspended operations in September and Aeropostal in October 2017. In August, Tame operated Charter flights to/from Quito, Ecuador.

The highest number of operations is alwasy at 19:00, but stands out with a peak of 1,242 operations at that time during the month of August. Commercial airlines mobilized 27% of the total cargo.

Ferry: Flight without passengers or cargo.

Operation (flight): Refers to take-offs and landings of airplanes. Arrivals and departures will be counted separately, i.e., an arrival and a departure will be counted as two movements.

Embarked passenger: Passenger departing from Panama to other cities.
