Cottingham grew up roughly 30 minutes away from Chicago, in the small town of Lowell, Indiana. Even with the proximity to Chi-Town, because of his hometown’s size, Cottingham was used to rural life when he moved to Crawfordsville last year to start his Wabash career studying the arts and medicine. Beginning at a young age, Cottingham took classical voice training. In the last five years, his voice began to mature, so he could tailor it for an operatic voice. He began with light, lyric works and transitioned his repertoire to more dramatic pieces Cottingham began theatre his junior year of high school after getting hurt in football.
