Dear Classmates,

Fall is here, and Wabash College is buzzing with activity, so let’s get right to it shall we?

The News The Wabash Football team was 2-0 following its recent victory over Washington of St. Louis. Next up is in Richmond, IN, on September 25, and then the big Homecoming game on October 2, vs. Ohio Wesleyan.

Also, be sure to make it out to one of the many tailgate parties at Wabash away games. Check the alumni page at http://www.wabash.edu for updated information.

Hope y’all can make it out to Homecoming to check out the new biology and chemistry building, “Hays Hall.” Go here on the web to read more: http://www.wabash.edu/alumni/news.cfm?news_ID=1886 Here is the latest on Tickets:

Monon Bell Game tickets are expected to go on sale to the public Homecoming weekend (October 2, 2004.) Further information will be available shortly. For Wabash alumni holding a "W" pass, one complimentary ticket will be held for you until October 15, 2004. At that point, any unclaimed tickets will be made available for sale to the general public. "W" pass holders will receive a letter in the near future outlining the procedures necessary to get their complimentary ticket. If you have questions, please contact Tom Runge, "W" pass ticket manager in the Alumni and Parent Relations office, by phone (765-361-6371) or email ([email protected]).

Giving The Greater Wabash Foundation has changed its name to the Annual Fund. Apparently many of you out there were getting confused as to what the GWF really was, and “Annual Fund” is just a more descriptive name for “the Fund which Alumni give to Annually.” Makes sense. So do your part and support your alma mater.

For convenience, you can give online at www.wabash.edu/giving.

Admissions We have 250 freshman starting school this year, and nearly 43% of them were referred by alumni. Not bad, eh? Here are two things you can do to make a difference in admissions:

1. Sign the application waiving the $30.00 application fee for any prospective senior. Your signature and class year saves the student and his family money, and these application fees add up for students who apply to several . This gesture is often enough to encourage the young man to apply for admission. You may sign the application over the phone or via email. Simply instruct your recruit to write your name and class year on his application. Even if he applies on line, he only needs to type your name and class year to waive his fee.

2. Encourage the campus visit. The campus visit is the top indicator of a student’s interest. Usually after a campus visit students really like the campus and community. Many of their preconceptions about a college for men disappear. To help arrange a visit, please contact Mary Skelton at [email protected] or at 800-345-5385.

Also, here are the college’s rankings from the Princeton Review.

#11 Best Overall Academic Experience For Undergraduates #5 Professors Bring Material to Life #10 Professors Make Themselves Accessible #8 Their Students Never Stop Studying #2 Best Bargains - Private #9 School Runs Like Butter #9 Students Happy With Financial Aid #18 Lots of Race/Class Interaction #3 Everyone Plays Intramural Sports #7 Major Frat And Sorority Scene

Schroeder Career Center The last couple years or so, I’ve been very impressed with the growth of the Career Center. The effort involved in helping prepare students after Wabash has been wonderful. There are still challenges (namely, getting students motivated to take an interest in their future), but it is no doubt a huge improvement from the Career Center I knew when I was a senior. And they are always interested in alumni help. Here’s the latest:

Tuesday, November 9th from 10:00am - 3:00pm we will hold our annual Career & Internship Fair. Please let us know if you or a representative of your organization would like to receive an invitation and registration materials. This event typically attracts 30-50 organizations and last year had the highest number of alumni representing their organizations.

Friday, January 21 from 9:00am - 4:00pm we have scheduled Mock Interview Day. Typically this attracts alumni and others who handle some aspect of hiring for their organization. Students are interviewed by the alumnus then the alumnus critiques the interview with the student and provides tips for future interviewing success.

If you are interested in participating in any of these programs please contact Rosalind Lister, Director, The Schroeder Career Center, at 765-361-6355 or [email protected].

Rob Mohr I am now stationed at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX continuing intel training in imagery. I have spent over the last year and half learning Korean in at DLI in Monterey, CA. My wife, Kiele, and I are expecting in late January. I tell her that all we for our child, we can find at the Wabash On-line Bookstore. But she doesn't quite understand it. PS Please inform me of any Monon Bell parties in the area, if anyone knows...

Eric Borgert Parker, not a lot has changed for me. Still a computer system validation schmo living in Indy (now with Eliassen Group). My second season as coach of the 56 (fifth-sixth grade) Immaculate Heart of Mary football team is underway. If I could get my running backs to block backside defensive ends, we'd be a lot more affective with the pass. I need Matt Gerber.

I'm making the transition to email, so please use this address for all future emails to me: [email protected]

Jeremy Roscoe I have a new e-mail address. [email protected]

I just opened a pediatrics practice in Greenwood, IN as a solo doctor. It is called Clown Pediatrics. Tell anyone with friends or relatives in the area to come and check us out. We are right next to St. Francis South Campus Hospital.

Anthony Santaniello We are glad to be back playing shows [for our band MaximisE] in Los Angeles and west coast area. Check the calendar section on our web site for more information on current shows we are playing.

http://www.maximise.homestead.com is the official maximise web site.

Christopher White I've just returned from two months in Vicchio, Italy where I served as the head conservator for the Poggio Colla excavation. I'm currently working in the Furniture and Frame conservation lab at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I've been here for the past two years and will probably continue for at least another year. I'm in the midst of a new research project...don't laugh....I'm doing trace element analysis in early American brass alloys. Life is good. Hope everyone is happy and healthy.

Josh Robinson On September 4th 2004, Jennifer C. Colleton and I were married in Evanston, IL at St. Mary's Catholic Church. We vacationed in Zihuatanejo, Mexico and had a fabulous time! Thanks to everyone who witnessed and celebrated our marriage. Jenny is a 4th year resident in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and I am one of the chief residents in pediatrics, both of us at University of Chicago Hospitals.

Also, does anyone have an email or contact info for Chad Pedley? I'm trying to reach him but his number in the directory is disconnected. Email me at [email protected].

Thanks everyone, for the updates.
