THE BACHELOR | WABASHCOLLEGEBACHELOR.COM | 7 SPORTS Look Back: 1977 Wabash Football Team

BLAKE LARGENT ’22 | SPORTS EDITOR • With the conclusion of Christmas recess and the new semester off and running, The Bachelor returns with its second edition of the ‘Look Back’ series. The goal of this series is to remember and present some of the greatest and most influential athletic teams of Wabash College. The series began with a look back at the historic 1981-82 Wabash basketball team, which captured the 1982 Division III Men’s Basketball National Championship and finished with a 24-4 record. This edition looks back at one of the most historic football teams in Wabash College’s rich football history: the 1977 Wabash football team. Other than academics, Wabash is most well- known for its football program. The rivalry, the Little Giant persona and the Wabash Always Fights mantra, the nine North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championships, and the consistent winning records have led Wabash to become a school known for its football program despite being in basketball-centered Indiana. Every person associated with Wabash College has a personal story or a favorite COURTESY OF WABASH COLLEGE ARCHIVES memory from a specific moment in Little Giant football history.
