Capecchi, Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine 2007 As part of the ULB’s 175 anniversary celebrations, the University wants to emphasise scientific Gene Targeting into the XXIst Century: Mouse Models of Human Disease from Cancer to Psychiatric Disorders excellence by inviting 13 outstanding personalities – Nobel Prize laureates, winners of the Wolf • 14:00 - 15:15: Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine 2008 Prize or Fields Medal – from such different disciplines as medicine, mathematics, chemistry, Prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS: two major challenges for the XXIst century physics, literature, law and economics. This event, unique in , will give these (Prévention et traitement du VIH/ SIDA : les grands défis du XXIe siècle) personalities the opportunity to present the latest research results in their domains to the public • 15:45 - 17:00: Rolf Zinkernagel, Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine 1996 and to discuss the future role of science and the major challenges facing society in the future. On Anti-viral Immunity The free lectures are open both to university members and the public at large. There will be simultaneous interpretation from French into English and vice-versa. In conferring on them the insignia of Doctor Honoris Causa, the ULB will be honouring these outstanding scientists and their contribution to advancing knowledge (by invitation). A Public Forum will be taking place - with the support of the European Commission - on Thursday, May 6, in the evening.
