It outlines what information we need from you, and what you can expect in return from us. Across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole we have 96 schools. The Council works in close partnership with them. The aspirations for our area are ambitious and include investing in our children and young people and enabling access to high quality education. We understand that moving up to Secondary or Studio school is an exciting experience for both children and parents. However, this transition can also be a challenging time for all as decisions are made about which schools to apply for - with this process then followed by the inevitable and anxious wait to see if the application has been successful. Similar to other areas, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council has experienced increased demand for school places due to rising birth rates and movement of families. We have adopted an overall strategy for the provision of school places which includes looking at options for additional capacity at existing schools and new school provision. -

Dorset School Aged Immunisation Pathways for the 2020/21 academic year Introduction This information supports local practices in understanding the school aged immunisations programme for the 2020/21 academic year, including any changes to the schedule. COVID-19 Due to the impact of COVID-19 and school closures in the first half of 2020, the school aged immunisation provider will be offering catch-up doses of Meningitis ACWY, Td/IPV and HPV during the 2020/21 academic year to those cohorts that missed their scheduled doses in the 2019/20 academic year – see below for further details. Overview of school aged immunisations From September 2020, the following immunisations will be delivered by the school aged immunisation provider: • Influenza: Reception to year 7 in mainstream schools, and all children in special schools of any age • HPV dose 1: Year 8 girls and boys (and catch-up doses to girls and boys who missed a dose in 2019/20 and are now in year 9) • HPV dose 2: Year 9 girls and boys (and catch-up doses to girls only who missed a dose in 2019/20 and are now in year 10) • Men ACWY: Year 10 (and catch-up doses to girls and boys who missed a dose in 2019/20 and are now in year 11) • Td/IPV: Year 10 (and catch-up doses to girls and boys who missed a dose in 2019/20 and are now in year 11) Page 1 Dorset School Aged Immunisation Pathways for the 2020/21 academic year Please note that the flu clinic schedule for the Dorset school aged immunisations provider is available at the end of this document. -

University of Kent's Institution Contextual Flag All schools on this list meet the requirements for the University of Kent's Institution Contextual Flag. The Institution Contextual Flag is given to all institutions whose data indicates that they perform in the bottom 40% nationally for KS5 results reported by the Department for Education each year. We use the average point school per entry and where data is not available, we use KS4 result, if available. In order to make this more reliable we look at data over a three year period to see if they are low performing for at least two out of the last three years. ENCLOSURE A THE BOROUGH OF POOLE COORDINATED ADMISSION SCHEME FOR 2018-2019 All schools in Poole together with Poole Local Authority have, in accordance with statutory requirements, agreed to coordinate the main entry admission and transfer process for 2018-19. The agreed scheme enables an application to be made on a single application form. The coordinated scheme applies to the following admission points of entry: Entry in Reception at all First, Infant and Primary schools Entry into Year 3 at Junior schools Entry into Year 5 at Broadstone Middle School Entry into Year 7 at all secondary schools with the exception of Corfe Hills School Entry into Year 9 at Corfe Hills School There will be a single closing date for applications for each phase, which will result in only one offer of a school being made. Offers will be coordinated with other Local Authorities to ensure that a child receives only a single offer of the highest preference able to be agreed subject to the receipt of information in sufficient time and the other Local Authorities’ schemes providing for this. Moving up to Secondary School: FAQ’s and Useful Information Key Dates 1st September 2019 Applications for school places open 6th September 2019 Deadline to register for the Grammar School test 13 September 2019 Deadline to register for the Expressly Academic class in Poole High School 21st September 2019 Grammar School test date 28th September 2019 Expressively Academic Class test date 31st October 2019 Deadline for applications to be submitted to BCP Council 2nd March 2020 Date of allocation results – online results available and letters posted How do I apply for my child’s secondary school place for September 2020? The deadline to submit your application is 31st October 2019. If you are a BCP Council resident you must apply to BCP Council, either online or using a paper form. Online applications may be made at https://bcp.cloud.servelec-synergy.com/ParentPortal/ from 1 September 2019. You will need an email address to create an online account. Paper applications can be requested from BCP Council or collected from the Customer Contact Centre, St Stephen’s Road or the Welcome Area, above Poole Central Library, Dolphin Centre. There will also be some available from your child’s primary school. If you are applying to a school with religious criteria, you will need to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) in addition to your application to prove your religious commitment and be considered on these grounds. These can be found on each individual school’s website. They need to be completed and returned by 31 October 2019. The form will explain where it needs to be returned to. -

It offers information on the Borough’s Consultation on school admission arrangements 2019/20 : Updates The following schools have either amended or commenced consultation since 15 December: Heatherlands Primary School Heatherlands is now an Academy. Ocean Learning Trust, as the admissions authority for the School, have adopted the Local Authority Community School policy and extended the consultation until 31 December 2017. The Trust are consulting on clarifying oversubscription criteria and home-to-school distance measurement wording. There are no changes to how the policy works. Manorside Academy The Academy are consulting on clarifying oversubscription criteria and home-to-school distance measurement wording. There are no changes to how the policy works. The school are consulting until 31 December 2017. Magna Academy Poole Magna are no longer consulting on including Jewell Academy as a feeder school. During that time we have seen five different Secretaries of State for Education, each with radically different opinions on what constitutes good education and nowhere has that change been more evident than in post 16. We have witnessed funding agencies and qualifications come and go and major legislation such as RPA come into being. The main priorities in this 14-19 Plan include the implementation of the Careers Strategy, which will address key issues in our recent Youth Survey delivery, a funded project which aims to support the most disadvantaged young people to progress into HE, increasing the post 16 choices for our SEND young people and improving our value added results for academic and applied general qualifications.
