Name of the information system Vaski libraries information database

Authority in charge of the information system The city libraries of Kaarina, Laitila, Naantali, Paimio, Raisio, Salo,Turku and Uusikaupunki, and the municipal libraries of Kustavi, Lieto, Masku, Mynämäki, Nousiainen, Pyhäranta, Rusko, Salo, Sauvo, Taivassalo and Vehmaa.

Persons in charge of the information system The person in charge of library services in the municipal and city libraries that use the information system.

Purpose of the information system Maintenance of the libraries’ collection and customer data, and producing statistics.

Sources of information The source of the collection data is the material accepted to the library’s collections. The source of the personal data is the information given by the customer or his/her guardian as well as the population information system. In addition, the lending activity in the library activity produces data.

Data are from years/ start from year Data on collections and customers have been transferred to databases since the 1980s. Databases of different libraries have been combined in the 2000s, last in 2015.

Frequency of information updates Real-time.

Publicity / confidentiality of information The collection data are public, whereas the loan and customer data are private.

Public information by data group The bibliographic data on the works belonging to the library’s collections, the identification data of the volumes and the availability data of the volumes.

Confidential data The data on customers, material borrowed by customers, reservations made by customers and charges.
