FRONT

Stitch FRONT (1) sections, right sides together at center front, between square and notch.

Turn left front to inside along foldline. Press.

Pin LEFT FLY (2) sections, right sides together. Stitch long curved edge. Trim seam allowances. 2

Turn right side out. Press. Baste raw edges together.

On inside, lap left fly to left front over zipper, having raw edges even. Baste through all thicknesses.

On outside, stitch left front close to pressed edge, through all thicknesses, using a zipper foot.

With right sides together, pin right fly facing to right front opening edge. Stitch, ending at square. Trim seam allowances.

UNDERSTITCH facing.

Turn right fly facing to inside. Press.

Lap right front over left, matching centers. Baste close to edge, through all thicknesses.

On inside, lower edge of left fly and right fly facing together, as shown.

SIDE FRONT

FINISH slanted edge of FRONT POCKET (9) with a 5/8” (1.5cm) NARROW HEM. 9

Turn upper edge of pocket to inside, turning in remaining seam allowances and folding in corners diagonally. Press. Baste close to inner pressed-under edge. TOPSTITCH along basting.

Stitch back to front at inner leg.

Stitch remainder of crotch seam to notch in front. Stitch again 1/4” (6mm) away in seam allowances between notches. Trim close to second stitching.

Stitch back to front at sides.

CARRIERS

Press under 5/8” (1.5cm) on long edges 7 of CARRIER (7).

With wrong sides together, fold carrier along foldline, having edges even. Press. EDGESTITCH long edges.

Cut carrier into five sections, each 4-1/4” (11cm) long. NOTE: Extra length has been allowed. Press under 5/8” (1.5cm) on one end of each carrier. Trim pressed-under edge to 3/8” (1cm).

On outside, center remaining end of carriers over squares on pants, having ends even with raw edge, as shown. Baste along seamline. Stitch across carriers at squares.

WAISTBAND

STAYSTITCH upper edge of pants between notches.

Pin interfaced WAISTBAND (8) section to upper edge of pants and left fly, placing large circles to opening edges, matching 8 notches, centers and squares to side seams, clipping pants where necessary. Baste. Stitch. Trim, trimming excess zipper. Press seam allowances toward waistband. (Uninterfaced waistband section will be used as facing.) Press under 5/8” (1.5cm) on notched edge of waistband FACING, easing in fullness. Trim pressed-under edge to 3/8” (1cm).

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS MCCALL'S >> PDF PATTERNS 20 M8007 >> SEWING INSTRUCTIONS Pin facing to waistband, right sides together. Stitch ends and upper edge. Trim seam allowances.

Turn facing to inside. Press. SLIPSTITCH pressed-under edge over seam. EDGESTITCH all edges of waistband.

Turn carriers up. Pin to upper edge of waistband, centering over squares. EDGESTITCH in place, through all thicknesses.

FINISHING Hems:

Turn up a 1-1/4” (3.2cm) hem on lower edge of pants. Baste close to fold. Machine-baste 1/4” (6mm) from raw edge. Pull up thread and adjust fullness; shrink out with steam. Turn under 1/4” (6mm) on raw edge. Baste hem in place close to upper edge. Press. TOPSTITCH hem along upper basting.
