(Formerly Architect, J. G. Bland of Birmingham. Queen Anne revival style. Red brick, Flemish Willis's carpet bond. Sash windows. Principle north-east range (Law Court) has three storeys, and L- making factory shaped plan overall but with slightly advanced full height front facing gables to centre and offices) and ends. Central front doorway framed with concentric pilasters, and concentric semi- circular arch having guaged and moulded voisoirs. Immediately above are three narrow 1/1 sash windows, and above this a large window with semi-circular header contd. Cont.d from overleaf GV and radial glazing. Large front facing wagon entrances to left and right ends. Each gable surmounted with pediment having red terracotta dressing and three small front facing windows. Southwest range (No. 41, offices) has two storeys and rectangular plan. Front doorway offset to right with double panelled door and fanlight having metal grille. Framed with three concentric pilasters to either side, and three-part concentric semi-circular arch having guaged and moulded voisoirs. Entire doorway surmounted with pediment having red terracotta dressing. Basement beneath both ranges, having split level windows onto street, metal grilles stylistically similar to fanlight in south-west range, and segmental arches with gauged and moulded voisoirs. Possibly influenced by design of Nos. 17 to 20 Vicar Street, by J. G. Bland of Birmingham; which in turn was influenced by the Argent Works in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, also by this architect.
