The Wyoming Seminary Upper School Jazz Ensemble (Dave Jumper, director) for joining us on Saturday evening. We are deeply indebted to our three guest artists—Mr. Bucky Pizzarelli, Mr. Warren Vache’, and Mr. Rev. Bill Carter, Mr. Joe Cole, Mr. Dave Jumper, and Mr. Marko Marcinko, for forming the Marywood Jazz Quintet which Phil Woods—who are joining us to honor the work of Cole Porter. The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance is deeply indebted to these jazz legends and grateful that they have joined us for this annual event. We welcome Mr. Pizzarelli and Mr. Vache’ who are joining us for the first time and are thrilled to have Mr. Woods back with us for his second of, what we hope will be, many visits. These gentlemen will offer some of Mr. Porter’s lesser known compositions, which are not played as often as they should be. All of the selections for this program are special arrangements that were produced for vocal legends “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” Mr. Di Mattio Nelson Riddle Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., , and of course, “Old Blue Eyes”—Frank Sinatra! Four “Just One of Those Things” Ms. Dunleavy Buddy Bregman gentlemen, whose names are less known to you, made the arrangements for these singers from the “Let’s Do It” Ms. Conaboy Marty Paich late nineteen fifties through the nineteen seventies. Buddy Bregman, Neal Hefti, Marty Paich, and “Love for Sale” Ms. Sallusti Nelson Riddle Nelson Riddle are the real heroes of this program. Their works are considered to be the best “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” Ms. Dunleavy Nelson Riddle representations of the manner in which a vocal stylist should be featured with a large instrumental “Night and Day” Mr. Di Mattio Nelson Riddle ensemble.
