A Loss in our Parish… We are saddened by the loss of Larry Schmi, husband of Nan Schmi, who died March 1, 2020 at home aer a long health bale. We offer our prayers, condolences, and support for Nan and her family in their loss. Nan and Larry have been members of St. Barnabas Church since 2000, having located to the area from Buffalo, NY. They both have been very impacul on our church, serving in many ministries together and separately. Larry was a Knight of Columbus, a Minstrel (playing music at Mass and at our picnics as well as at the Feed and Seed), head of the Building and Facilies Commission, a member of the Couples Club, and organizer of the annual St. Nick’s Workshop each December. He also helped cook at the Fish Frys, fixed so many things around the church, and was handyman to many parishioners as well. Somehow he found me to be one of the original Wednesday golf group that is sll going strong, and he was involved in ministry at the Universal Nursing Home. Larry was quite an athlete, too, parcipang in Senior Olympics and Senior Soball. That’s a paral list! There are so many ministries and acvies Larry was involved in that it is nearly impossible to list them all. The loss of Larry is huge for our parish. He and Nan brought us so much with their care of our church and parishioners.
