OUR SESQUICENTENNIAL YEAR 1869 – 2019 Founded in 1869, Saint Barnabas is a parish of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. The Ordinariate was established in 2012 by Benedict XVI in order to preserve elements of the Anglican tradition within the . The parish entered the Catholic Church in 2013. is celebrated using Divine Worship, the Vatican-promulgated Missal also known as the Ordinariate or liturgy. All Catholics may fulfill their Mass obligation on Sundays and holydays at Saint Barnabas. Catholics in full communion with the of may receive Holy Communion at our Masses. Confessions are heard beginning 25 minutes before Mass at the rear of the church.

 LENTEN FRIDAYS STATIONS AND SOUP Saint Barnabas is once again observing the Fridays of Lent with Stations of the Cross and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by a simple soup supper and a series of talks. Each week’s Stations will use a different set of meditations, drawn from the great wealth of Catholic devotional writings. The subject of the talks is «The Three Pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving». Stations of the Cross begins at 6:30 pm. Volunteers to bring a vegetarian soup are needed for March 29, April 5, and April 12.  HIGH TEA FOR MOTHERING SUNDAY MARCH 31 Sunday, March 31 is Letare Sunday, also known as Rose or Mothering Sunday. In many English-speaking countries, it is day to honour all mothers, not unlike the American holiday of Mothers Day. It will be celebrated at Saint Barnabas with a High Tea at the Parish House at 4 pm. All those in attendance are encouraged to attend Evensong at 5:30 pm. Guests are especially welcome for this Sesquicentennial event.

 CHORAL EVENSONG APRIL 7 We will offer Choral Evensong with Litany in Procession and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament on Passion Sunday, April 7. at 5:30 pm. A reception will follow in the Parish House. All are welcome.

 FEAST OF THE MARCH 25 Monday, March 25 is the Feast of the Annunciation. Though overlooked by many Catholics, for those of the Anglican patrimony it is significant as one of the few feasts of Our Lady to be included in the Book of Common Prayer. High Mass will be celebrated at 7 pm, followed by a reception in the Parish House.

 MORNING PRAYER ON MORNINGS Morning Prayer is now said every Wednesday morning at 8:15 am in the church.  CONSTRUCTION UPDATE With winter weather now relenting, progress on the elevator project has advanced considerably. New main electrical service equipment has been installed and the new electric service should be live next week. OPPD is currently installing the new gas service to the building. Sheetrock has been completed in the undercroft, and the ceiling is being installed in the addition. Floor tiles in the nave have been replaced where pipes for the former heating system were previously removed.

 EGGS FOR DAY Please bring candy-filled Easter gggs to Coffee Hour at the Rectory during the coming weeks. They will be used in our annual Egg Hunt on Joslyn Castle’s front lawn after Mass on Easter Sunday. The filled plastic eggs should be taped after filling to avoid accidents and spilled candies!

 MORNING PRAYER ON WEDNESDAY MORNINGS Morning Prayer will be said every Wednesday morning at 8:15 am in the church. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

 RELICS OF SAINT JOHN VIANNEY TO VISIT OMAHA MARCH 21 The incorrupt heart of Saint John Vianney, also known as the Curé of Ars (or priest of Ars), is coming to St. Cecilia Cathedral for by priests and the faithful on March 21. The event will begin with private veneration of the relic by priests from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass celebrated by Archbishop George Lucas. The relic will remain in the cathedral until 2 p.m. for veneration by the faithful.

MAY 12 The Most Rev'd Eldon Curtiss, Archbishop Emeritus of Omaha, will administer the sacrament of Confirmation at the 10:30 am Mass on Sunday, May 12.
