Pastoral Plan Benedictine Communities of Saint John the Baptist in Collegeville and Saint Joseph in Saint Joseph

1. Change mass times at Saint John the Baptist from Saturday evenings to Sunday mornings at 8:30. 2. Change mass times at St. Joseph on Sundays from 8 to 8:30 and from 10 to 10:30. This will allow the pastor to say mass regularly at SJB and return for the 10:30 mass at SJ. 3. Joint bulletin format ready for both parishes starting April 2020. 4. The planning counsel is diverse, however, we have been unable to find a joint time to meet for the last 3 months, due to a large part on the number of funerals from both parishes from Christmas until the end of February. 5. We are developing plans for joint pastoral ministers to serve both parishes in our 3 retirement centers. 6. The staff of the two parishes have been cooperating in assisting each other in areas like liturgy and Faith Formation but further steps need to be taken. 7. St. Joseph parish has been working in collaboration with Resurrection Lutheran on a number of projects including joint Summer Bible School, Fare For All food distribution, joint Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners open to all in the area. 8. St. Joseph and St. John the Baptist are cooperating on Lenten Soup and Speaker Series and other social justice initiatives. 9. St. Joseph has had a 5/6 year history of working with the Somali population in our area SJB has had Somali speakers in the past to better understand these new neighbors.

Our future goals will need to include:  a joint pastoral council  work on a joint Faith Formation program  common social justice committee.
