rd Wisdom 9: 13-18b Saturday, September 7 – Vigil – 23 Sunday in Ordinary Time The author of this passage has no illusions about 5:00 PM Memorial: Alfred P. Soscia, Jr. people. He is well aware of human frailty, error and Sunday, September 8 – Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary weakness. There is no point in pretending that we can grasp Time the mind of God, for we have difficulty enough making sense 8:00 AM Memorial: William III & Helen Shields of our material world and its problems. 9:30 AM For the People of St. Peter’s Parish But God has chosen to explain and enlighten us. If 11:00 AM 15 th Anniversary: Richard Langevin we accept God’s Wisdom and His Spirit, some of the 12:30 PM Baptisms mysteries will become clearer. With the help of God, we can

Monday, September 9 – St. fly beyond the barriers of human restrictions into the freedom of life in Christ. 7:00 AM Memorial: Jeanne Stowe Tuesday, September 10 Philemon 9-10, 12-17 7:00 AM Memorial: Margaret Morrisroe Wednesday, September 11 As Paul appeals to a fellow Christian on behalf of the 7:00 AM Memorial: Serafina & John LaDisa slave Onesimus, he touches on three kinds of freedom . First, Thursday, September 12 – The Holy Name of Mary Onesimus, whom Paul values highly, may now be granted his 7:00 AM Memorial: Angelo Ceprano freedom. Here we can see in practice what Jesus promised us Friday, September 13 – St. all: that we will no longer be considered slaves, but children 7:00 AM Memorial: Inman of God and brothers and sisters of Christ. No Sunday, September 15 – Twenty-fourth Sunday in chains can bind Christ’s Life in us. Finally , Paul allows his Ordinary Time friend the freedom to make decisions. The recipient may not notice, but God surely will. Parish Stewardship of Treasure st st Weekend of August 31 & Sept 1 ……….….$7,058.72 Luke 14: 25-33 (129) Monthly…………………………………….….1,721.00 Helping Hands for the Poor……………………..538.00 Jesus explains that we need to free ourselves from To tal...... $9,317.72 earthly ties if we are to bind ourselves to Him. He is not suggesting that we turn our back on the world and its needs or that we cut ourselves off from all relationships and live as hermits. He is concerned, however, about our desire to possess and control others and to have total control of our own lives. To relinquish this need, we must alter our relationships and our attitudes toward family and friends, so we cannot undertake commitment to Jesus lightly. Once we have given away our rights to all possessions and ownership, we may find that we are still deeply involved with people, goods and money. But we are no longer owners; we are stewards who handle God’s assets, and in our relationships our human commitment will be strengthened by our allegiance and obedience to God’s will.

The PASS program will provide financial assistance to deserving students who are presently enrolled in St. Peter’s Tri-Parish School. Although a variety of scholarships is available for members of St. Peter’s Parish, there are still students who have genuine financial hardships and need additional help with their tuition. The PASS program provides each of us with an opportunity to make a difference in the life of one child. Please consider helping a student achieve his or her dreams.
