Lee Scott Service Notes Lessons & Carols Cast Since its inception at King’s College, Cambridge, in 1918, the Service of ROLE: PLAYED BY: Lessons and Carols has been offered by liturgical churches all over the world, and Soloist: has been made famous through an annual Christmas broadcast on BBC. Thomas Patton Once in Royal David’s City The traditional service has an adaptable order of worship that can focus on Hymn 140, vs. 1 Advent or Christmas, or a combination of both – which is what we have chosen for Advent Wreath Leader 1 Yates our service. We have also chosen “family friendly” lessons and accompanying Advent Wreath Leader 2 Owen Gatozzi First Presbyterian Church anthems. There are two elements that always remain consistent. First, the service Advent Wreath Leader 3 Katherine Bailey opens with the hymn, “Once in Royal David’s City” with a soloist singing the first Advent Wreath Leader 4 Henry Bearden Presents verse. Second, the lessons are to be read by leaders of the church as well as leaders John the Baptist Graham Patton in the community. Our guest lectors are Dr. Andrew T. Minear and Mrs. RaSheda Judeans Caroline Way, JoAnna Hutt, Workman. Both the scripture and the music will recount the promise of the Messiah Danyle Maughan as well as Christ’s birth. Our Chapel Choir, Lyric Choir, and Cherub Choir, will be joined by youth Angel of the Lord Kat Taylor leaders from the church. Each child in our cast will play a specific role in the story, Heavenly Host Angel Grace Leiter and my talented colleagues – Interim Director of Christian Education, Rev. Neeley Lead Shepherd Amelia Hamiter Lane, Costumers, Paige Mize and Susie Engelke, and Director, Lois Palacek, will Littlest Angel Sally Henry ensure that the lessons are brought to life!
