CHILDREN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION **First Reconciliation Retreat** The First Reconciliation Retreat will be on Saturday, February 1st in the parish hall. Please be in the gym by 8:45 a.m. to register your child. We will be done by 12:30 p.m. This retreat is mandatory for all children in 2nd thru 5th grade first communion preparation classes. They are truly building a family among the children and care- Saturday 2:00am to 3:00am givers. Along with that, in partnership with several other organizations, they have Saturday 3:00am to 4:00am agreed to move the home towards a family oriented model, with children of similar Saturday 4:00am to 5:00am ages and gender being housed in their own space with house parents to care for Saturday 12:00pm to 1:00pm them. This has proven successful in other places and provides a more ideal atmos- Saturday 1:00pm to 2:00pm phere than the old orphanage model with big dorms, communal dining, and multiple Some hours can be shared caregivers. There are also big changes at St. Joseph’s, the original home where Capstone first started assisting. The children are all grown up now, and the property has transi- tioned to a home for young college women who grew up in orphanages. It is man- aged by Corazon de Vida, one of our partner organizations, and the home is proving to be a wonderful place for the young women to transition to adulthood with the support needed while navigating all the many challenges they face after growing up in orphanages.
