Flood Procedure

Recreational Centre - Resident Emergency Refuge Centre Living in Queensland we are all familiar with extreme weather events which can impact our homes and personal safety. Living within close proximity to water carries the need for additional preparation in the event of an emergency. Residences has been designed with consideration to flooding. The following information has been provided to assist all residents to understand actions they need to take and procedures to be aware of. It is relevant to note that isolation for extended periods and the need to use the refuge centre would only occur as a result of an extreme event. The potential of such an event occurring is extremely low.

On site managers role The on-site managers will be familiar with the Flood Emergency Preparedness and Management Plan for Tide Residences. The on-site managers will maintain a register of all occupants for Tide Residences to ensure notifications can be issued to you all in the event of an emergency. We note it is the responsibility of the occupant/resident to provide this information to the on-site managers and Body Corporate. In the event that the Flood Emergency Preparedness and Management Plan needs to be actioned, the on-site managers will follow steps as outlined within the plan to contact residents and inform them of the pending or occurring event and the steps they should take at that point in time.

Resident responsibilities All residents are advised to make themselves familiar with the access route to the Recreational Centre from all points within the Tide Residences site. A plan has been included for your reference. All residents are encouraged to provide their contact details to the Body Corporate and On-site managers for registration of a Resident Register. This should include names and contact numbers for all occupiers of the property. This is requested in the event contact needs to be made to inform you or another person at the property of a pending event which is triggering the Emergency Plan. The recreational facility will act as an Emergency Flood Refuge in the event of a flooding emergency. The on-site manager will make all endeavours to contact all residents in the event of a pending and active emergency on the site. Residents are encouraged to follow all instructions issued by the managers for their safety. To ensure you are prepared in the event of an emergency we have included the government recommended planning and provision suggestions for you.

We note that the government recommended levels of water and non-perishable food be maintained to cover each resident for a minimum period of 3 days per person. This equates to a minimum of 3ltrs of water/ person /day and food rations of minimum 2400calories/ person/ day. Additional water for cooking and of 1.5ltrs person / day is also recommended. Sunshine Coast Council in conjunction with local representatives has established a Local disaster Management Co-ordination Centre. The Flood emergency Preparedness and Management Plan for Tide Residences has been registered with this body along with relevant site plans.

Trigger Level Action

Flood Watch - Minor Flood On-site Manager will notify residents via SMS, face to face or other appropriate Level 1 - Flood Event method that a weather event is being monitored and to be aware access likely from Bradman Avenue may be compromised. On-site manager will send cancellation when forecast warning has been cancelled.

Moderate to Major Flood warning Notification that Bradman Avenue may be compromised will be issued and become un-trafficable in the short term. Evacuation of the site is discouraged. Level 2 - Flood Event Homes are recommended safe refuge in the medium term. All visitors and staff Shelter in place to take refuge with residents. On-site manager will send cancellation when this event warning has been cancelled.

Recommended transfer to Recreational Centre - Flood Refuge Centre On-site manager will notify residents and visitors to collect emergency rations Level 3 - Flood Event and water supplies make way to Refuge Centre. In the event a person is unable Shelter in Flood Refuge to make their way to the Refuge Centre the on-site managers will monitor their Centre position and status. On-site manager will send cancellation when this event warning has been cancelled.

Residents to remain at Refuge Centre until emergency services have provide Level 4 - Post Flood the all clear to return to homes. All services and utilities to be checked by Event Actions professional before normal activities occur. Resident Emergency Refuge Centre - Recreational Club

In the unlikely event of a flood emergency, the Recreational Club has been designed as a refuge for residents and the local area for a period of up to 3 days. All residents must ensure they are aware of actions they should take during an event which triggers use of the refuge centre. Please be aware of your route from your property to the refuge centre. All residents are expected to have enough food and water provisions in store at all times for a 3 day isolation event. Refer to Flood Emergency Procedure guidelines.
