Glades County Democrat/Photos by Richard Marion Music livens up the Fourth in Lakeport Dozens of people came out to celebrate the Fourth of July with their neighbors despite threatening skies and occasional downpours as the Lakeport Communi- ty Association threw a little party at the community center. Hot dogs and burgers were grilled, little ones and grown-ups both played games, children enjoyed a bounce house and water slide while some got their faces painted, and the band Country Roads provided “great music” for their entertainment, said Glades County Commissioner Donald Strenth. He attended the free event on Wednes- day, July 4, and filled in fellow county commissioners about it when they had their regular meeting Tuesday morning. Mr. Strenth said the event wound down at dusk “with a good hour’s worth of fireworks.”
