The Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald is responsible for universities in the Freiburg region which includes Offenburg, Gengenbach, Furtwangen, Villingen-Schwenningen and Kehl.

Students that attend any of the universities in previously named regions can utilize the services that the Studierendenwerk provides. Student dormitories

Student house St. Martin St.-Martin-Straße 71 and 73, 77652 Offenburg There are a total of 151 housing spots in two-five room apartments. All rooms have computer and internet outlets.

Student house Goldgasse Goldgasse 31, 77652 Offenburg The dormitories in Goldgasse have 37 housing spots. Every room has an internet outlet.

Student house Zähringerstraße Zähringerstraße 36 B, 77652 Offenburg The dormitory has 55 spots for students in 1-5 room apartments that all have brand new telphone and internet connections.

The Studierendenwerk employs international tutors who serve as points of contact for international students.

Student Bookstore In the University of Offenburg’s building the Studierendenwerk has set up a book store where students can buy books and school supplies. Opening hours: Monday – Thursday from 9.00 a.m. – 11.30 a.m and 1.00 p.m. – 2.00 p.m. Friday from 9.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.

There is also a bookstore in Gengenbach where students can buy books and supplies in the university building room 010. Food and Drink On the University of Offenburg’s campus there is a dining hall and a cafe. The dining hall in Gengenbach can be found directly in the university building. There are a variety of menus to choose from. The Cafe offers snacks and drinks to tide students over. Children of students can eat in the dinings halls for free up until the age of 10.

BAföG During the Offenburg bookstore’s operating hours you can pick up BAföG applications. Outside of open office hours BAföG advisors from the Studierendenwerk travel out to Offenburg and Gengenbach twice a month. In Offenburg the times and place will be posted in the student bookstore and in Gengenbach the times and place will be posted on the Black Board.

Child Care Services Students with children who study in Offenburg have the option to send their kids to a daycare near the university. The basis to use the service is an agreement between the university, Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald and the city of Offenburg who have spots for students in their communal area and family center in Uffhofen.

The Studierendenwerk subsidizes (by application) the monthly payments for child care for children under 3 years of age by the difference between the daycare center fees in the Uffhofen city center and the price of fees paid at a Studierendenwerk daycare center in Freiburg. Only students are allowed to receive this help.

Pyscho-therapy sessions For those who find themselves having trouble fixing their problems there is the option to contact professional psyschologists, Claudia Hartung or Konrad Braun, who work directly at the University of Offenburg.

Insurance After paying the semester fee all students receive liability and accident insurance and are also covered against stolen bikes or clothing. Insurance claims for the federal accident insurance need to be turned in at the university. The person to contact regarding the free time, liability, and theft insurances is Claudia Michel in the Offenburg bookstore.

International Student Identification Card (ISIC) Want to pay lower prices in a foreign country? When you have an international student ID it is no problem. This ID is the single world-wide recognized international student ID with which you can receive numerous discounts, and it is available in the student bookstore.
