Business Strategies

The RCI Regensburg Center for Interventional Immunology was established in 2010 as a central unit of Regensburg University in order to tie all academic research areas related to the development of new immunotherapies (e.g. Departments of Internal Medicine, Surgery). The RCI aims at researching, developing and quickly applying improved therapies against cancer, infections, autoimmune diseases as well as in the field of organic and stem cell therapy Because of the great scientific and medical expertise in the field of Interventional Immunology and in order to enhance the medical and scientific advantages of Regensburg, the RCI shall become an extra-faculty research institute of the Leibniz-Association. The Free State of supports the RCI strategically as well as financially.

Core Technologies and Services

Research in the fields of:

Suppressing of the human immune system after organic or stem cell transplantations and by allowing it to fight against viruses and cancer cells.

Improved therapy of rheumatism and inflammatory bowel disease through selective intervention of the immune system

Usage of the immune system to fight against cancer cells in an effort to decrease the intensity of chemo therapy and radiation.

Patent, Licenses, Co-operations

Close collaboration of the RCI with the University Hospital, Companies (e. g. BioPark Regensburg) and University Hospitals of Erlangen-Nuernberg and Wuerzburg allow synergetic effects in modern therapies for the good of patients. Through the cooperation with the José Carreras Centrum for Somatic Cell Therapy enables local experts to manufacture cell products for individual immunotherapy.
