The President Antoinette Iadarola Endowed Fund The President Antoinette Iadarola Fund aims to advance academic programs that engage students in issues of social justice and communities in need. The fund was established to support initiatives linking learning to the common good, and will allow Cabrini’s continued development of mission-driven academic programs and exploration of new opportunities that foster an “education of the heart.”

The goal for the fund was $500,000. The fundraising effort, co-chaired by Edith Robb Dixon HON’80 and Margaret Hamilton Duprey ’73, HON’08, generated nearly $680,000 in gifts and pledges from 152 generous donors.

The President Antoinette Iadarola Fund will be awarded for the first time in fiscal year 2009-10 by President Marie Angelella George.

The Jolyon Pitt Girard Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence Fund A nnual R eport | 13 The Jolyon Pitt Girard Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence Fund honors Jolyon P. Girard, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of history and political science at Cabrini. This award recognizes Dr. Girard’s contributions to the intellectual life of the College community since 1973, and his profound influence on generations of students.

Guided by Dr. Girard’s interest in U.S. history and diplomacy, this annual award will be presented for the first time during fiscal year 2009-10, and will be granted to a “Girard Scholar,” a nationally recognized professional demonstrating leadership in the field of history. Girard Scholars will participate in special academic programs and deliver a public lecture. The fund is intended to enrich the learning environment for students, particularly those who are majoring in history and political science.

More than 120 donors contributed to the Jolyon Pitt Girard Distinguished Scholar-in- Residence Fund, raising nearly $300,000. The effort was chaired by Ellin Dixon Miller ’85, Thomas P. Nerney ’77 and D. Jamie Miller Prince ’84.

Alumni Association Scholarship Following in the tradition of Mother Cabrini and the College’s challenge to “do something extraordinary,” the Alumni Association decided in 2006 to establish a scholarship to recognize an outstanding student annually by furnishing a $1,000 scholarship. This scholarship has become a primary fundraising initiative, and has raised nearly $40,000 from 121 donors. During Alumni Weekend in June 2008, the Alumni Association notified Shannon Winters ’09 that she had been selected as the first recipient.

The scholarship is awarded to a rising junior who has distinguished him or herself through service to the community, both on and off campus, demonstrated academic excellence, and exemplified the vision, commitment, and dedication to Cabrini’s “education of the heart.”

Contributions to these funds are welcomed. Additional gifts will increase the annual income available for award. For more information or to make a gift, contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at 610-902-8226. 14 | cabrini college Gregory J.Gregory Pasquarello Advocate Mother UrsulaInf Thomas P. Giving Opportunities

A gift of any size made before June 30, 2009 supports the Cabrini Fund and enhances the education and campus lives of Cabrini students. For more information about opportunities to enrich the future of Cabrini College, email [email protected] or call 610-902-8257.

Cabrini Fund Any Amount This year, Cabrini’s goal is to increase alumni participation to 1,107 gifts, or 12 percent of the total alumni base. A gift of any size will help the College increase the rate of alumni participation, which is a measure many foundations, corporations, and parents of prospective students review. An unrestricted contribution in any amount, or a gift in any of the opportunities noted will count toward achieving this goal.

Cabrini Society Membership $1,000 This key group of alumni, parents, and friends provides leadership support and enables the College to meet the most urgent needs of today’s students and faculty. Members of the Cabrini Society receive special invitations and advance notice of cam- pus events.

Annually Funded Named Scholarship $2,500 Share the gift of an “education of the heart” by naming an annually funded and awarded scholarship that will benefit a Cabrini College student who demonstrates financial need. More than 70 percent of Cabrini students have financial need.

Endowed Named Scholarships $25,000–$100,000 Scholarships provide access to higher education for academically motivated students who demonstrate financial need. An endowed scholarship provides financial support in perpetuity. Recognition and student financial support will be made annually. These scholarships may be structured to support students in a specific program or to meet other donor-designated criteria.

Alumni Association Scholarship Any Amount Endowed in 2007, the Alumni Association Scholarship benefits a rising junior with financial need who has shown commitment to Cabrini. Candidates undergo an application and interview process, and are chosen for this honor by the Alumni Board. Con- tributions increase the amount of this award and encourage the tradition of alumni giving back to support the next generation of Cabrini students.

Athletics $100–$25,000 Gifts can be made to support Cabrini’s athletics program and may be directed to support a specific sport. Opportunities include advertisements in game day programs for a season; signage at the Dixon Pool, Tennis Courts, Stadium, or Nerney Field House; VIP grandstand seating and more.
