We always knew that - is a wonderful city with a picturesque historic centre, in a beautiful location and in a lovely region. Our town has seen many visitors and inhabitants, such as the constructors of the pile-dwellings several thousand years ago, the Romans about two thousand years ago or the noblemen building Rapperswil castle about 800 years ago. However, until today, our city with 27000 inhabitants was hardly associated with places like Shanghai, Brussels or Hong Kong. Today this will definitely change. After Shanghai (2012), Brussels (2014) and Hong Kong (2016) GPR 2018 has arrived in Rapperswil-Jona. We are proud and happy to welcome you in our city. We hope you do not only enjoy the conference but also our town and its surroundings. Welcome to Rapperswil-Jona Martin Stöckling Mayor of Rapperswil-Jona

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the HSR, University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil. The HSR has approximately 1600 students and is without exaggeration the best located campus in . The HSR has three mainstays: training, research and implementation. Competent and qualified, curious, solution-oriented and with passion in our two specialist areas of “Engineering & Information Technology” and “Architecture, Building & Planning”. Our main focus is on the students taking our degree and continuing education courses and training them to become highly qualified and responsible specialists and managers. The second central area of activity at the HSR is application-oriented research and development. Effective and practicable solutions are developed in our 17 institutes – in close cooperation with project partners in the private and public sector. Our professors and lecturers combine practical work, teaching and research. They channel the very latest examples into their teaching and thus provide challenges for our students, develop their team spirit and prepare them for their professional life. See for yourself and enjoy your stay at the HSR! Wishing you a successful conference Prof. Dr. Margit Mönnecke Rector of the HSR, University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil

Welcome to GPR 2018! I am very happy and it is a great honour to see you all here in Rapperswil. I hope that you are enjoying yourself, the conference and our nice Lake Zurich area. I would like to thank our committees, our local organizing team, our university and all authors for making this possible. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask our team. Welcome again Johannes Hugenschmidt Chairman of GPR 2018
