    1 DARI KARTINI HINGGA AYU UTAMI: MEMPOSISIKAN PENULIS PEREMPUAN DALAM SEJARAH SASTRA INDONESIA Oleh Nurhadi Abstract There is an interesting phenomenon in the end of 20-th century and in the beginning of 21-th century in Indonesian literature history. That’s phenomenon are so many women writer whose productive in writing poetry or fiction. Is this a suddenly phenomenon? There is a series moment that couldn’t ignored, because there were some women writers in the beginning of Indonesian literary history, especially in 1920- ies, a milestone in modern Indonesian literary history. The modern Indonesian literary history itself is impact of acculturation by western culture. This acculturation appears in Kartini herself, a woman writer who never mention in history about her literature activity. Limitation to women writers in the past often interrelated by the edge of their role, for example, they were: never categorized as qualified literature writer, or as a popular writer, or just a peripheral writer, not as a prominent writer in their generation of writer. Is installation of Ayu Utami as a pioneer in novel genre in Indonesian 2000 Generation of Literature as one strategy of contrary to what happen recently? Apparently, the emergent of women writers weren’t automatically had relation by feminism movement. The writer who had struggle for Kartini’s history is Pramoedya Ananta Toer, a man writer.     24 WacanaWacana Vol. Vol. 18 No.18 No. 1 (2017): 1 (2017) 24-37 Long way home The life history of Chinese-Indonesian migrants in the Netherlands1 YUMI KITAMURA ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to trace the modern history of Indonesia through the experience of two Chinese Indonesians who migrated to the Netherlands at different periods of time. These life stories represent both postcolonial experiences and the Cold War politics in Indonesia. The migration of Chinese Indonesians since the beginning of the twentieth century has had long history, however, most of the previous literature has focused on the experiences of the “Peranakan” group who are not representative of various other groups of Chinese Indonesian migrants who have had different experiences in making their journey to the Netherlands. This paper will present two stories as a parallel to the more commonly known narratives of the “Peranakan” experience.     Between G elanggang and Lekra: Pramoedya's Developing Literary Concepts- by Martina Heinschke Introduction During the first decade of the New Order, the idea of the autonomy of art was the unchallenged basis for all art production considered legitimate. The term encompasses two significant assumptions. First, it includes the idea that art and/or its individual categories are recognized within society as independent sub-systems that make their own rules, i.e. that art is not subject to influences exerted by other social sub-systems (politics and religion, for example). Secondly, it entails a complex of aesthetic notions that basically tend to exclude all non-artistic considerations from the aesthetic field and to define art as an activity detached from everyday life. An aesthetics of autonomy can create problems for its adherents, as a review of recent occidental art and literary history makes clear. Artists have attempted to overcome these problems by reasserting social ideals (e.g. as in naturalism) or through revolt, as in the avant-garde movements of the twentieth century which challenged the aesthetic norms of the autonomous work of art in order to relocate aesthetic experience at a pivotal point in relation to individual and social life.* 1 * This article is based on parts of my doctoral thesis, Angkatan 45.     THE THORNY ROSE: THE AVOIDANCE OF PASSION IN MODERN INDONESIAN LITERATURE1 Harry Aveling One of the important shortcomings of modern Indonesian literature is the failure of its authors, on the whole young, well-educated men of the upper and more modernized strata of society, to deal in a convincing manner with the topic of adult heterosexual passion. This problem includes, and partly arises from, an inadequacy in portraying realistic female char­ acters which verges, at times, on something which might be considered sadism. What is involved here is not merely an inability to come to terms with Western concepts of romantic love, as explicated, for example, by the late C. S. Lewis in his book The Allegory of Love. The failure to depict adult heterosexual passion on the part of modern Indonesian authors also stands in strange contrast to the frankness and gusto with which the writers of the various branches of traditional Indonesian and Malay litera­ ture dealt with this topic. Indeed it stands in almost as great a contrast with the practice of Peninsular Malay literature today. In Javanese literature, as Pigeaud notes in his history, The Literature of Java, "Poems and tales describing erotic situations are very much in evidence . descriptions of this kind are to be found in almost every important mythic, epic, historical and romantic Javanese text."^ In Sundanese literature, there is not only the open violence of Sang Kuriang's incestuous desires towards his mother (who conceived him through inter­ course with a dog), and a further wide range of openly sexual, indeed often heavily Oedipal stories, but also the crude direct­ ness of the trickster Si-Kabajan tales, which so embarrassed one commentator, Dr.

Pandji Tisna yang dihubungkan dengan sistem religi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan antropologi sastra, jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analisis. Sumber data dalam penelitian in berupa novel Sukreni Gadis Bali karya A.A. Pandji Tisna. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata, frase, atau kalimat yang berupa satuan cerita yang menggambarkan realitas budaya masyarakat Bali khususnya dalam konteks sistem religi. Hasil penelitian ini berupa; Pertama, sistem religi/kepercayaan terhadap penjelmaan Tuhan. Kedua, sistem kepercayaan masayarakat Bali terhadap Penjelmaan Ida Sanghyang Widhi Wasa sesuai dengan fungsi dan tempat-Nya Berstana. Ketiga, sistem religi/kepercayaan terhadap hukum timbal-balik/ sebab-akibat (karmaphala). Keempat, kepercayaan masyarakat Bali tentang sekte-sekte Siwa yang berpengaruh di pulau Bali. Kata kunci: sistem religi, kepercayaan pada Tuhan, hukum timbal balik Abstract: This study describes the reality of Balinese culture in the novel Sukreni Gadis Bali by AA Pandji Tisna associated with the religion system. This descriptive, qualitative study uses anthropological approach to literature. The source of data was the novel Sukreni Gadis Bali by AA Pandji Tisna. The data were the units of story in the form of words, phrases, or sentences representing the reality of Balinese culture in the context of the religion system. The results are: (1) the system of religion/belief in the incarnation of God; (2) the Balinese belief system of the Incarnation Ida Trance Widhi Wasa in accordance with its function and place of Berstana; (3) the system of religion/belief in the law of causality (karmaphala); and (4) Balinese belief in the influential Siwa sects in Bali.

Logemann published an article entitled ‘Nieuwe gegevens over het ontstaan van de Indonesische grondwet van 1945’ (New data on the creation of the Indonesian Constitution of 1945).1 Logemann’s analysis, presented 48 years ago, needs revisiting since it was based upon a single work compiled by Muhammad Yamin (1903-1962), Naskah persiapan Undang-undang Dasar 1945 (Documents for the preparation of the 1945 Constitution).2 Yamin’s work was purportedly an edition of the debates conducted by the Badan Penyelidik Usaha Persiapan Kemerdekaan (BPUPK, Committee to Investigate Preparations for Independence)3 between 29 May and 17 July 1945, and by the 1 Research for this article was assisted by funding from the Australian Research Council’s Dis- covery Grant Program.
