This weekend we celebrate the Bap sm of the Lord and, thus, the formal end of the Christmas season. Looking back, I am so apprecia ve for the holiday me that we had together. Looking forward, we will be nearing the season of Lent before you know it. Please keep our R.C.I.A. candidates and catechumens in your prayers.
In my ar cle last week for the Feast of Epiphany, I asked the ques on, “what star will you follow this year?” I am reminded of a friend of mine who use to tell me, “you can achieve most any dream that you put your mind to. The ques on is—is it the right dream and goal for you?” So, what shall you and I set our sights on this year? Good health and more pa ence are always 2 good goals to pursue. Perhaps, though, we could ask ourselves the obvious: how would I describe my rela onship with God and my church right now? And how can it be be er? Maybe that can be our goal, our “star,” if you will. Along with kindness and charity, let’s keep our eyes fixed on the most important goal—a deeper commitment to holiness. Not perfec on. Just holiness, trying to live each day as God asks us to.
